Yesterday we had our annual blogger’s Christmas Party at our boss’, Kristen’s, house. And once again, it was a blast! When we first got there, thanks to Katie‘s glorious driving, we were able to eat. Kristen had prepared us some delicious food and I definitely ate too much! While we ate, all of us bloggers got to catch up and talk about the current state of our semesters and how things have been since the last time we met up.
After we chatted, we proceeded to watch the movie Elf. Elf is one of those movies that almost everyone else but me has seen and everyone seemingly quotes it and references it and I never get the jokes. But I unfortunately could not concentrate as there was only one thing on my mind, building the Gingerbread house. I’ve never built one before so it was definitely a life-changing experience. I designated myself as being the person who placed the icing that held the house together so needless to say, I had the most important job.
Afterwards, Kristen gave us all gifts and we were able to make it back to Butler, where I started studying for finals.
Katie and I at the blogging party!
Friday was Butler’s mascot, Blue‘s, birthday! He turned seven in human years, which is 49 in dog years I think, so he’s getting to be an old little fella! The party for him was held in Starbucks and I’ve never seen it more packed! There were also many prospective students and their parents in attendance. It was definitely a good day to take a tour!
I made sure to force my way to the front of the crowd because I saw the guy from Fox news filming. I never miss an opportunity to be on the news! We all sang happy birthday and participated in eating all the free cookies. There was a contest to guess the correct number of dog treats in a bowl and the winner got a Starbucks gift card.
Blue tried running away twice while we all were singing to him. He’s probably sick of all the paparazzi following him!
Blue and his owner on his big day! He was definitely getting rowdy in his party hat!
I’m a member of Butler’s College Democrats club and yesterday we met with the College Republicans and had a Civil Engagement Forum in Irwin Library on campus. It was even better because Senator Lugar came and spoke at the gathering. His speech touched on a variety of topics, starting with his early political career to his current clash with the Tea Party. At the end there was a Q&A session where students could ask him questions.
At the end of the meeting everyone was invited to come and meet the senator. I got to shake his hand and I even got to talk to him about how we have the same birthday! It was definitely nice to see one of our nation’s lawmakers take time to come to our campus and talk to students.
Thanks for visiting my blog! Feel free to leave a comment!
