I haven’t been to the movies in ages so I’ve decided that I want to see the movie Les Miserables with my friend Hayley tomorrow. I’ve heard so many great things about the film so I decided that it would be worth while seeing. The film is based on the famous musical from the 1800s.
I keep seeing all the members of the cast on various talkshow interviews discussing how they had to lose weight for the film, how cold the weather conditions were, and about the struggles of being an actor. An interesting fact I learned about the movie is that they all had to sing their songs live and did not lip-sync like musicals normally do.
I’m really looking forward to hearing Anne Hathaway sing “I Dreamed A Dream” since it’s one of my favorite songs of all time. My favorite version is Susan Boyle’s version so hopefully little Annie can do it justice!

For those who celebrate, Merry Christmas everyone! I hope everyone has a great and warm holiday this year. Before the eating and unwrapping of gifts begins, I wanted to make a quick blog to talk about the holiday and such.
Thankfully it’s not snowing outside because 1. “White Christmas” is one of my least favorite Christmas songs and 2. I hate the cold. It’s also good because I plan to go shopping tomorrow with all of my Christmas money and the roads need to be clear to make way for me!
One of my favorite Christmas songs, however, is “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey. But since I’ve been listening to Michael Bublé’s Christmas album, I thought I’d post his version! His voice is reminiscent of drinking hot chocolate by the fire on a cold day. That basically means I love it! Even though I’ve never actually done that and I hate hot chocolate, his music is just too good.

Since I’ve had a lack of substantial finals to do this week but still have to be here because I’m an RA, my sleeping patterns have been out of whack and I’ve been sleeping a lot during the day and wide awake at night. Not even coffee and Red Bull have been able to keep me up during the day but I’ve been slowly managing. I guess my days of being an early bird are slowly being left behind.
I only have to be here two more days so that’s pretty exciting. It has been so fun seeing campus getting emptier and emptier as the days go on. I cannot wait to see how quiet things are on Saturday night! And it’ll be extremely strange seeing the parking lot empty on Sunday.
I just woke up from a nap and thought it appropriately described me.
Although I’ve decided against studying abroad, I am still determined to learn Spanish. So in my recent boredom, I’ve decided to set up by own study abroad program from my home and watch nothing but Spanish Telenovelas on Univision and listen to hispanic music in my car.
So far, my biggest struggle has been completely understanding them when they talk fast on TV. Even after approaching my seventh year of studying Spanish, I still have a hard time with that, even with subtitles! So hopefully my the end of the summer I’ll be a pro.
But even though I’ve committed to watching Spanish shows, of course I can’t give up watching my favorite shows: the Kardashians, Glee, and Good Morning America!
Here is one of the songs I discovered while exploring new Spanish music. Anything with JLo in it, I’m automatically hooked! Plus, it’s mostly in English, which I also like! I can’t get over how different she looks! O.0
Today is the last day of classes before finals and I’m super excited. One of my classes for today was canceled so today got a little more exciting! But then I realized I still have to give a presentation in my Research class so the excitement subsided a little. I’m so nervous to present! I’m sure I’ll do fine since I’ve been practicing but it’s still hard to get over those nerves!
Since finals don’t start until Wednesday, Tuesday is wide open. So I’ve decided to start moving some of the stuff I don’t use home. It feels so weird to say that I’m starting to move out of my room already. It’ll be even weirder because next week I’ll be half way done with college! I’m not ready to leave just yet!! I’m going to have to make the most of the next two years as it seems like these two have just flown by!
Last week when I went to Starbucks one night, there was a mini concert going on! I've yet to find out who was playing.
I was very productive this weekend and finished all my homework early. This meant that I had to find a way to spend my Sunday! So since I had a lack of power on Saturday, one of the first things I did was to watch Saturday Night Live online. It was a surprisingly funny episode since I didn’t know who the host was.
Then I decided to workout for like the second time this year. And by working out I mean prancing around my room while dancing to my iPod. Eventually I got tired of this too and ended up taking a nap until dinner. After dinner I
danced worked out again and went to bed early. Needless to say since I went to bed early, I’ve been up since 5 am and will probably be tired by 3 pm! But hey, the early bird catches the worm, right!?
This was my favorite skit from SNL this week.
Spring Break has been amazing so far and I’ve spent it so far by doing nothing all day around my house! Though it may sound boring, I’ve been enjoying it very much! I’ve also had loads of time to watch television and develop new obsessions.
One of my newest obsessions is the band Big Time Rush. Though their fan base mostly consists of 12 year old girls, I happened to stumble upon their Nickelodeon show the other day and I’m now addicted! Judge me all ya want! I’m probably going through a midlife crisis since my birthday is in less than a month and I hate growing up! If I could, I would stay in college FOREVER!
I have also started watching CMT and I am starting to like country music! Of course I’ve always loved Carrie Underwood but now I’m being introduced to tons of other artists I’m starting to like, including Blake Shelton. I already knew him from watching The Voice but now I’ve begun listening to his music and I like it! Hopefully this isn’t like my other phases that usually last a week!
Here’s the music video to Carrie’s new song that I’ve been listening to alllll day!
Tonight, when we were bored in the Collegian office, five of us decided to make a new band called Madison and the Typesetters. We’re a newly formed punk feminist band and we’re obviously going to take the world by storm.
I’m at backup vocals and lead guitar, which kind of makes me a big deal, except for the fact that I can’t sing or play an instrument. We’re even going to make our first single, and it’s called “Bad News.”
Although I wish we actually were starting a band, I do plan on writing a song. Watch out, Adele, Andre’s coming for ya! I don’t know what it’s going to be about or what it’ll sound like but it’s going to happen.
This is probably be my next single cover. It's wacky enough to get my point across!
Spring Break is two weeks away and I couldn’t be more excited. No, I’m not going anywhere fancy like Florida or Mexico, but I’m just excited to catch up on some good sleep and not have to do assignments. Maybe I’ll even read a book! The only sad part is that it only lasts a week. And if the weather stays the same, it’ll probably be cold too. But the good outweighs the bad!
To celebrate the glorious occasion, the Collegian is planning a Spring Break insert and I was assigned to write a playlist of songs needed to have a good break. I also had to pick five books that are must haves for the week, too. It was so hard picking just five songs since there are so many good ones, but I managed to survive.
But, if this song isn’t on your Spring Break playlist, you just won’t have a good time!
Madonna‘s halftime show last night was one of the best performances I’ve ever seen! I loved all of the lights, costumes, and songs! She even performed her new song “Give Me All Your Luvin’” which I’m currently obsessed with.
She even had guest performers, including Nicki Minaj, LMFAO, M.I.A., and Cee Lo Green. Controversially, M.I.A. flipped the bird to the cameras right before the censor caught her! Already the media is calling it Janet Jackson part two even though hardly anyone noticed that M.I.A. did it when it happened.
One of the more exciting parts of the performance was when she sang “Like A Prayer” because there were various Butler choir members who performed with her! Everyone on Facebook couldn’t stop talking about it as it was so exciting!
You can see the whole performance here!
