As all my friends know, I’m extremely picky over my music choices. I even only have 5 artists on my iPod! One of them being the Arctic Monkeys. I only discovered them last year despite them being formed in 2002. Needless to say, as soon as I heard them, I loved it!
Their latest album, called AM, is my favorite of their albums. It’s very hip hop influenced, which I like, and is also really dark, which I also enjoy since it makes me feel edgy. Yes, I’m easily influenced into liking things if they make me feel edgy…. Don’t judge me!
They recently covered “Hold On, We’re Going Home” by Drake and I really enjoyed it. I thought they pulled it off well considering the song is a different genre but also put their own spin on it.

Merry Christmas! And Happy Holidays to those who don’t celebrate!
I guess it wasn’t a white Christmas this year,
which I prefer because I hate the cold. It’s pretty early right now so I haven’t gotten to go downstairs and open presents and such but it’s coming and I can’t wait! I also haven’t gotten time to go through my contacts on my phone to text everyone Merry Christmas but I’ll get to that as well!
On another note, for some reason I just can’t get into Christmas music. I can’t explain it but I just can’t sing along to it. Don’t get me wrong, I like the Christmas season, just not the music. Well, I don’t really like holiday themed music in general. However, I do happen to enjoy one Christmas song and it is “All I Want For Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey. It’s probably everyone’s favorite Christmas song and it happens to be mine too.
Last night were the American Music Awards and they were highly entertaining. I didn’t watch the red carpet because
I wasn’t interested I missed it but I was able to catch the main show. I was looking forward to all the performances, including those by Ariana Grande, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, and Imagine Dragons.
Of course my favorite performance was by Miley Cyrus who had quite the performance. No, she didn’t twerk. Instead, she just performed on stage with a giant animated cat behind her and it was highly entertaining. At one point the cat even started crying and did Miley’s signature tongue out pose. Unfortunately they made everyone wait for Miley to perform at the end of the show so occasionally I got bored and did homework or other things but it ended up being a great show.
Here’s a clip of Miley’s performance:

What do you get when André has money in the bank to blow? Weird online purchases! Last week I was randomly up until 2 AM and I got the
funny weird idea that I needed to buy something online. This was probably in response to my desire to always get mail. If no one will send you mail, the next best thing is to send some to yourself! …I have friends, I promise…..
So I happened to stumble across the Taylor Swift website and saw that she was having an awkwardly early holiday sale. I can’t say that I like Taylor enough to buy things with her face on it but I’m not one to pass up a good deal. The bundle package I got had 2 rubber bracelets, a Taylor notebook, a sound amplifier for my phone, and 6 guitar picks. I don’t have a guitar, I don’t plan on using the notebook, nor the other things but it was all only $8! So if anyone was looking for those items, I’d be more than happy to share the wealth.
Me being very excited about my purchase.
Last night I got a great amount of rest and was really energized and for some reason the song “Brighter Than The Sun” by Colbie Caillat was stuck in my head. Needless to say, I was in an awkwardly good mood and still am. Then I found myself on YouTube looking up her music and eventually I stumbled into some newer Jack Johnson stuff. I ended up buying his new album since it was the only album of his I don’t have and now I’ve been listening to him all morning. Sorry Colbie.
There are too many Jack Johnson songs that I love to choose a favorite but for today’s Music Monday I picked “Sitting, Waiting, Wishing” since it’s the one song of his I’m always in the mood for. His songs always make me feel like I’m just laying in a hammock on the beaches of Hawaii with not a care in the world. I love it. It’s now a goal of mine to listen to Jack Johnson on the beach, in a hammock, by a palm tree.
Of course I had to bring back my weekly music monday posts! Today’s Music Monday is dedicated to Drake. All my friends know that I’m a huge Drake fan and he’s one of the few artists on my iPod. Plus, he’s one of my favorite artists to dance to in my room by myself. Sure that’s an embarrassing confession but whatever!
The reason why I chose Drake was because his new album “Nothing Was The Same” comes out tomorrow. I listened to it online last week and I love it and can’t wait to buy it when it comes out at midnight! No, I’m not waiting at the store, I’m just buying it on iTunes. I made sure I had enough money in my bank account to buy it so I should be all clear when it comes out.
My favorite song from the album is “All Me” but there are other good songs on the album too. His first single “Started From The Bottom” is great as well. I highly recommend checking it out!

So tonight I went bowling with my friend Karleen and, needless to say, I completely dominated. I normally throw gutters galore but tonight I successfully played one whole game without throwing a single one! My score ended up being like 83 but, since I was playing against such an amateur, I won pretty easily.
We went to a place called Latitude 39 and it was really nice! It had neon lights, weird techno music, and great smelling food! So basically everything I’ve ever needed. The food there was awkwardly expensive so we got McDonald’s afterwards. I usually don’t like going off campus much on school nights but I did all my homework so I thought, “Why not!?”
I can’t wait to go again! I love playing against Karleen because she makes me feel better about how I play! Just kidding! …But seriously……
Taking the alley by storm!
So for the past two days everyone and their mom has been tweeting, Instagraming, and tattooing about getting Lollapalooza tickets. Personally I couldn’t get myself to buy the tickets because it was so much money for something I didn’t even know who was playing. The lineup hasn’t been announced so I wouldn’t even know if I liked the people or not. Also, outdoor festivals creep me out.
That being said, today a rumored lineup list appeared on the Internet and got me excited to say the least. It has Lana Del Rey, Azealia Banks, and other cool artists were on the list. If that’s the case, I might buy a one day pass just to see Lana and Azealia since all the other tickets were sold out.
Here’s Lana’s newest video just to get myself in the mood:

After a 7-year music break, Justin Timberlake is finally releasing his third studio album tomorrow and I’m pretty excited. I wasn’t always a fan of Justin but when “Sexyback” came out, I was hooked. His first single “Suit and Tie,” although it took time to grow on me, is great! It makes me feel classy when I listen to it and I like to sing and dance along to it in the car. I can’t dance as well as him but I’m getting there!
Justin has been all over SNL, Jimmy Fallon, and other shows to promote the album, which has gotten me really excited. He even performed a new song each day last week on Jimmy Fallon. And after listening to the full album on iTunes yesterday, I can’t wait to buy it! It’s a lot of R&B and Pop sounds, which I love. There are also rumors that he’s making a volume two to this album as well so I can’t wait!

In honor of seeing Oz The Great and Powerful on Saturday I decided to dedicate today’s Music Monday to Mariah Carey‘s song for the movie, “Almost Home.” It’s a very understated song, which I like about it, yet it still shows off her vocal ability. I also chose it because I’m home for Spring Break so I thought the title was slightly fitting.
As I stated in my previous blog post, I loved the movie! The music video features clips from the movie between clips of Mariah singing with a very powerful wind machine, I might add. The song isn’t in the movie but is the very last song played in the credits, which is disappointing since it’s a great song!
