Last night, as I was minding my own business about to go to bed, I decided to go online just to check on the news for the day. While I was on Twitter, all of a sudden I saw KimYe trending. KimYe is short for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West and is their celebrity couple name. And if you know anything about me, you’d know that Kanye is my favorite rapper/singer and Kim is my favorite person in existence. When I clicked on the trend, to my surprise, I found out that she is pregnant with Kanye’s child. The joy I felt was beyond words and needless to say this baby is a New Year’s miracle.
I got unnecessarily too excited about this news and started texting everyone in my phone expressing my excitement. Sure it was 1 AM but this was earth shattering news so it was urgent! Everyone I talked to was just as excited as me, or at least pretended to be. Now I will make it my number one goal to babysit this baby.

So I was really hoping the world would end on Friday and really hoped the Mayans were right but sadly they were incorrect. I only wanted the world to end just so I could brag that I went through the apocalypse in the afterlife but I guess I won’t get to do that just yet!
Inspired by the (not so) end of the world, this week’s Music Monday choice is “Till The World Ends” by Britney Spears. The video takes place in a sewer system during the apocalypse on Dec 21 and is basically an underground nightclub. Hey, if there’s nothing else left in the world, why not dance!? That’s basically the whole plot of the video so enjoy!
Even though the world didn’t end, at least I can say I survived the apocalypse!

I thought the song “Home” by Phillip Phillips would be appropriate for today since it’s the first official day I’m home from break. It definitely feels great having the semester behind my back and to go into the new semester. As long as it doesn’t snow this winter break, I’ll be one happy camper. But, anyway, back to the song.
Phillip Phillips is the most recent winner of American Idol and his style, from what I hear, is very similar to Mumford and Sons. I think the song is extremely catchy and the music video shows him on a tour bus riding down the rode and performing the song on his guitar. It’s not the most entertaining video but it definitely fits the song.
I’ve been going through weird music phases, and one of them is being awkwardly obsessed with Michael Bublé lately. I just got his Christmas album and I’ve been listening to it nonstop, which is weird because I usually don’t like to listen to Christmas music. My favorite songs by him are “Cry Me a River” and “Haven’t Met You Yet.” Whenever I listen to “Haven’t Met You Yet” I always want to prance around a grocery store since he does it in the music video.
Speaking of Christmas, I cannot wait to go home for the holidays. Not because I’m excited for Christmas itself, but I’m just excited to be done with the semester! I hate all the attention, shocking I know, that comes from giving and receiving presents, which is why I always just ask for money! I especially just hate the cold! Hopefully it is not a white Christmas this year! Bah humbug!
I’ve been going through a weird phase lately where I’ve been listening to alternative music. So it has been nothing but Coldplay, Muse, and Lana Del Rey for me! But starting yesterday I’ve been listening to Muse on repeat. Evidently they’ve been around since the 90s but I just discovered them a few years ago at the VMAs. And I’ve definitely been missing out! I love their music!
The song by them I’m currently loving is called “Madness,” which is on their most recent album. It reminds me of a modern take on Queen or Coldplay meets anthemic rock. The music video for the song is very interesting with technicolor lights, riot police, and a couple in a subway fighting. Basically everything I’ve ever wanted in a music video.

I’m a few years late to the Coldplay bandwagon but I’ve recently gotten into their music. I’ve been listening to their Mylo Xyloto album on repeat for the past couple of days. My favorite song is “Princess of China” featuring Rihanna because I love the production on it and it’s so catchy!
The song I chose today is “Paradise.” The video features Chris Martin randomly dressed up as an elephant where he escapes from the zoo and runs from the police. I wish I was joking. It’s actually an amusing video. My favorite part is toward the end where he meets up with the rest of the band dressed up as elephants as well and they all start dancing together and end up performing the rest of the song.
Rihanna‘s new album came out today so I thought it’d be appropriate to dedicate today’s Music Monday to her. Her music video to her song “Diamonds” came out recently and I love it. It’s dramatic, has weird imagery, and has a catchy tune. So basically it’s the best thing I’ve seen since “We Found Love.”
First the video has flashes of lots of diamonds and has Rihanna awkwardly rolling around her bed. Then it has her dramatically running from a car and grabbing someone’s arm. My favorite part is when there are two horses and one is on the ground and is dead and it
randomly miraculously comes to life and runs away with the other. I’m not quite sure what it means but I like it.
Although Beyoncé is my favorite singer, Kanye West is my favorite artist overall. I just love how creative his lyrics are and I love the creativity of his music videos. He’s also dating Kim Kardashian so that’s a plus in my book as well. My favorite song by Kanye is “Paris,” but my favorite video is “Power.”
The video is only 1 minute and 43 seconds long and is very creative. It is almost like a moving painting that starts out with a close headshot of Kanye and ends with a widened panoramic video of all of the other chaos going on in the “picture.” I love trying to focus on a new part of the painting each time I watch the video to see if I missed something the first time.
If anyone knows me then they would know that my favorite singer is Beyoncé. That being said, the most exciting news I’ve received this year was that she will be performing at next year’s Super Bowl Halftime show! Hopefully she performs new music and I wish it was in Indy again this year so I could go see it in person! Oh well, I guess watching it on television is good enough!
The video I chose to celebrate this upcoming national holiday was for her song “Countdown.” The love the video not just because of its creativity but for the fact that she filmed it while four months pregnant. If she can dance this well with child, I can only imagine how well she will dance without one at the Super Bowl!
Usually on Monday mornings the song “Don’t Wake Me Up” describes my life, but considering the fact that I got 8 hours of sleep last night and I drank Red Bull this morning, I am wide awake and woke up with glee. I somehow end up getting the most sleep the nights before the days with the least number of classes. Today I only have one class and it starts at 2 PM, so I didn’t even get to take advantage of being able to sleep in!
There is a not-so-secret secret that I am obsessed with Chris Brown, which is why i chose him for this Music Monday. The video involves him randomly being transported to different regions and climates around the world as he follows a girl. I’m assuming he’s dreaming and does not want to be woken up based on the title of the song.
