On my first day back home for Spring Break, I decided to see a movie with my friend since elementary school, Hayley! She informed me that there was a new Disney movie called Oz The Great and Powerful so we went to see it! The theatre was extremely packed to see the movie so luckily we got there early to get great heckling seats since we both enjoy making snide comments about movies together. Yes, we’re those people….
The movie starred James Franco as Oz. It also starred Mila Kunis as one of the evil witches. It is before Dorothy arrives and tells the backstory as to how Oz got his rule over the Emerald City. The plot and storyline were very creative and the cinematography was spectacular. I really enjoyed the movie. Although I have a vendetta against movies longer than 1 hour and 30 minutes, I still enjoyed this
2 hour movie. Needless to say we got irritated looks for giggling and laughing the whole time but it was a great movie, nonetheless! I highly recommend seeing it.

So going into Django Unchained, I was a little nervous. I don’t normally seek out movies about slavery nor have I ever seen a movie by Quentin Tarantino so I really didn’t know what to expect. It also generated a lot of controversy over some of the content in the film so I really didn’t know what to expect! That being said, it ended up being a funny movie, despite the fact that it was almost 3 hours long.
The movie was about a slave named Django, portrayed by Jamie Foxx, who seeks revenge for being sold away from his wife and sets out to find her. He gets the help from a Bounty Hunter. I don’t want to give away too much of the plot and spoil the movie but let’s just say the rest of the movie involves a lot of explosions, swear words, and comedy. I was also extremely satisfied with the ending. I now want to watch one of Tarantino’s other famous films, Pulp Fiction, since I’ve heard so many great things about it.

I haven’t been to the movies in ages so I’ve decided that I want to see the movie Les Miserables with my friend Hayley tomorrow. I’ve heard so many great things about the film so I decided that it would be worth while seeing. The film is based on the famous musical from the 1800s.
I keep seeing all the members of the cast on various talkshow interviews discussing how they had to lose weight for the film, how cold the weather conditions were, and about the struggles of being an actor. An interesting fact I learned about the movie is that they all had to sing their songs live and did not lip-sync like musicals normally do.
I’m really looking forward to hearing Anne Hathaway sing “I Dreamed A Dream” since it’s one of my favorite songs of all time. My favorite version is Susan Boyle’s version so hopefully little Annie can do it justice!

Tonight I just got back from seeing Paranormal Activity 4 and it was extremely scary. There was too much darkness, loud noises, scary demony people, you name it! It was only an hour and a half long so thankfully I wasn’t scared for that long. There were also scary parts when you least suspected it!
The movie was much scarier than the last scary movie I saw, The Devil Inside. Paranormal Activity was about a girl who films her house because she thinks there are spirits bothering her and are talking to her younger brother. I was a little disappointed in the ending and the outcome of the characters but it was still a good movie!
I wanted to devote this post to the victims in the movie theatre in Aurora, CO. I usually don’t talk about sad subjects in my blog but I thought it would be appropriate to show my support to the victims in some kind of way. For some reason I did not find out until nighttime on Friday as to what happened but I was shocked nonetheless. I think it really hit close to home since it was a movie I talked about seeing with friends the day before and that it could have been anybody, almost anywhere.
I was watching Anderson Cooper explain it all and he brought up a good point. It’s important for us not to remember the shooter but to instead remember the victims that were affected. After every shooting, nationwide people remember the shooter more than they remember the victims to I think it’s important for us to try to at least offer our support to the victims whether it’s just a Tweet or anything.
Here’s a video of two of the people at the movie theatre talking about their experiences:
Yesterday, as I was browsing the internet, I got the best news ever. Pixar is making a Toy Story 4 and a Finding Nemo 2! They both won’t be ready until like 2016 but I’m still excited nonetheless. The only thing I’m confused about is Finding Nemo 2. How can you find him again!? I’m also conflicted about there being another Toy Story since I love where the last movie ended. But I’ll take a new one any day!
Until those movies come out, I can still get excited for Monsters University to come out next year. Monsters University is the prequel to Monsters Inc that shows the two monsters when they met in college. The trailer looks hilarious and since I’m already in college I’ll be able to relate. It’s like Pixar just knows what movies I want to see again! Like I would not be upset if all of these movies went on for years.
Here’s the trailer for Monsters University:
Let’s just say that a pop star cannot release a movie without me seeing it! That being said, since today is my friend Allison’s birthday, we are going to see the Katy Perry movie this weekend. Afterwards we’re supposed to go out and celebrate her birthday so I can’t wait!
The Katy Perry movie is called Part of Me and is in 3-D. It is supposed to show all the in-depth coverage of how she puts together her tour, her divorce from Russell Brand, and a little background into her life.
Since Katy isn’t exactly the type of music I listen to, hopefully we’ll be able to catch the new Spiderman movie afterwards but considering it’s over two hours long, maybe we’ll go another day!
Here’s the trailer for Katy:
And here’s the trailer for Spiderman:
I’m not huge on musicals but I’ve decided to see the movie Rock of Ages. Although the costumes and hair look cheesy, I live for movies like this! It looks like one of those movies that although you’ll agree it’s not Oscar worthy, you’ll enjoy it anyway! Critics have been giving it bad reviews but I never usually agree with critics so I’ll see it anyway.
I know the movie is based on a musical of the same name and the movie stars Tom Cruise, which is one of the biggest reasons why I want to see it since I’ve never heard him sing before. It also stars Russell Brand and Alec Baldwin, which is definitely an interesting mix of actors. I’m supposed to be seeing the movie and eat at Chipotle with my friend Allison tomorrow and I’ll try to vlog it! I always want to try vlogging but always forget to pull out my camera. But I’m determined not to forget this time.
Here’s a trailer to the movie:
My never ending saga of renting movies has continued with the great movie Up. It’s the second Pixar movie I’ve watched this summer after Toy Story 3. For some reason I prefer watching movies years after they come out but end up regretting that I didn’t see it when it first came out. Pixar has another movie coming out this summer called Brave and after my recent luck with Pixar movies, I’m going to make an effort to see it in theatres.
Here’s the trailer for Brave:
Anway, back to Up! Up was such a good movie! I loved the visuals and the love story between the old man and his wife and all the minor characters. My favorite character was Doug who was a golden retriever but he wasn’t exactly the brightest tool in the shed. Plus, he could talk. But what made the movie even greater is that it had a happy ending.
Here’s my favorite scene featuring Doug. I love the part where he begs the bird to be his prisoner!
Amélie is a foreign film I recently watched and it is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while! It stars Audrey Tautou as Amélie who is an extremely quirky waitress that by chance finds a boy of toys of a boy that previously lived in her apartment and finds a clever way of giving it back to him. This leads her to do good deeds for all her neighbors. I won’t give away too much of the plot if someone decides to rent it!
What made this movie different from other foreign films I’ve seen is that it was in French! Usually when I watch a foreign film, they’re in Spanish so I can pick up on certain things without relying too heavily on the subtitles. But in this case, it wasn’t too much work looking at the subtitles and everything flowed well! I loved the subtle twists and the humor. It was definitely a different type of humor than I’m used to but I enjoyed it a lot! I highly recommend for anyone to rent it one weekend.
Instead of posting the trailer, I decided to post my favorite scene of Amélie helping a blind man in the city. I read online the director was inspired to make this scene based on something he saw in real life!
