No, this post isn’t about the Miami Heat. Instead it’s about this cruelly hot summer we have been having. Every day as far as I can remember has been hotter than 90 degrees and I’m not liking it one bit! Thankfully I’ve been staying inside of air conditioned buildings every day. Except for one….

Thursday it stormed for literally twenty minutes and my power went out! No air conditioning for me! And it turns out there were power outages across the county. Needless to say it was horrendous. After sweating half my body weight that night, there was no end in sight. When I woke up the power was still out so I decided to go to the one place I knew would have air conditioning… the mall.

After spending a couple hours there I decided to go home and hope the power was back on. As I was driving home, I noticed two power trucks driving in front of me and I was hoping they were going to my house to restore the power. And believe it or not, they were! It was the most glorious moment of my life. It took only twenty minutes to fix whatever was wrong and I was sitting pretty in my air conditioned home. I now have a whole new appreciation for the Amish.

Following the power trucks to my home! Best moment of my life.

The Vow

Yesterday my friend Angela from high school surprised me and came to visit Indy with her family. First we all went to the mall and shopped for a couple of hours and then we went to P.F. Chang’s and ate. I had something called Buddha’s Feast and it was delicious!

After dinner we went to see The Vow, starring Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams. Overall it was kind of a blah movie. I really didn’t know what emotion to have leaving the theatre. Everything happened so fast that it was hard to develop an emotional attachment to the characters so when they broke up, I kind of didn’t care. The acting in the movie wasn’t as bad as everyone made it out to be but I can say it just wasn’t believable.

I’d recommend it to people who enjoy really sappy love stories but other than that on a scale from 1-10 on how much I liked it, I’d give it a 5 just because I didn’t necessarily enjoy it but I didn’t hate it either. I think I was thrown off by the fact that Rachel McAdams had dark hair in the movie and was distracted by that the whole time.

Here’s the trailer for the movie.

I am FINALLY done shopping after a hectic day at the mall! Advice: NEVER go to the mall two days before Christmas if you plan on having a quick run and calmly browsing for gifts. Traffic was a little busier than expected but once I got to the mall, the lines were HUGE! I like being in crowds so it wasn’t too bad but I could barely even walk without bumping into people. It was like Black Friday part two!

I went to Yankee Candle to get some last minute gifts for my family. They had a buy one get one half off sale so that was an unexpected surprise! They had so many good smells that it was hard to choose which to get! Then I stopped by Carsons to get myself some new pajamas. Hopefully I don’t get any as a gift for Christmas! One of the good things about being at the mall on such a busy day is that I ran into so many people from high school that I knew! It was fun quickly catching up and promising to make plans during break!

As I left the mall traffic was getting heavier so I decided to get some Chipotle in hopes that there would be less people once I was done eating. Surprisingly, there was hardy anyone at Chipotle (I guess they were all shopping) and I had a nice relaxing dinner.

It was a fun day overall and I’m glad to finally be done with my last minute Christmas shopping! I caught a lot of good sales so I guess that’s a plus for putting it off for so long!

I promise here’s the last Christmas video I’ll share! It’s just so cheesy I couldn’t resist!
