STRESSED OUT!

I have SOOOO many projects, deadlines, and papers due in the next two weeks and it is very stressful. But, I would say I have been doing a good job of handling them. Here are some tips I use to lessen stress and to tackle all my assignments.

This is especially helpful in college where assignments seemingly fly at you out of nowhere!

-Make a list of all your tasks and get them done one by one

-Get a good night of sleep

-Go on a nice, long run

-Getting a bite to eat

-Improve time management skills

-Listen to relaxing music

-Hang out with friends

-Just sit back and take a break

Here’s a cool YouTube video on managing stress:

Stereo Love

The song “Stereo Love” has been randomly stuck in my head all day. I’m glad I shared that random fact!

Today me and my FYS partner met to discuss our project we have to present in class. We have to talk about one of the chapters we were assigned in the book Confederates in the Attic. It is actually a very interesting book! My group was assigned a chapter that deals with Gone With the Wind, which is another book we read this semester! So basically we got the best chapter and are going to rock our presentation!

As I mentioned on my last post, I have a ridiculous amount of assignments due this week… I think it will be worth it next week since I don’t have much due. I’m guessing professors are cramming everything in before the end of the semester!! Summer just cannot come fast enough!

Cherishing Break

So it’s taking me a long time to process that break is almost over. With that being said, I’m cherishing every single minute I’m off. But, I’m having a hard time doing that with all the homework I have!

Since I have homework in five of my classes, I created the clever but simple plan of doing one assignment a day and I am pleased to say that I only have one left! Yesterday I worked on my art project where we had to make a collage of a self portrait of ourselves, with close attention to color and only using magazine cutouts. It took me a couple of hours but I am pleased with what I did!

Also, I was watching the news today and saw that the basketball team won today! Congrats and hopefully you guys take the tournament this year!

My finished project! It's hard to see but I seriously cut out hundreds of tiny strips of paper to make it

Spanish Rap

Although my Spanish group thought we were being creative in reciting our vocabulary words to the tune of a rap by Nicki Minaj, turns out the other two groups did the same thing! They didn’t use Nicki Minaj but they still rapped. It was fun though! My group was CLEARLY the best. Not only did we have great costumes, our theme was aliens vs. nerds, but we also memorized it. I think our professor was impressed.

In my British Literature class, we have to write a sonnet and I’m not used to writing poetry so it will definitely be a challenge.Who knows, maybe I’ll be a natural! This is the first class I’ve actually liked British Literature in. We cover more poetry than the typical Shakespeare as in high school english which is a definite plus.

Snow Day!

Because of the extreme winter weather, today campus is closed! I was beginning to think that we would never get one but it’s finally here. It’s good because I was supposed to have a Spanish test today.

My day will now consist of laying under the covers and watching TV. I did my homework last night so I can just relax. More snow/ice is supposed to be on the way so hopefully classes will be canceled tomorrow too.

My First Basketball Game

On Thursday I went to my first basketball game at Hinkle Fieldhouse on campus. It was a girl’s game and they played Green Bay. The game started off rough with the Bulldogs being down by as much as 15 points! But the girls eventually came back and closed the gap to only 4 points! It was exciting to say the least.

The final seconds had everyone on the edge of their seats but the game didn’t turn out in our favor. But nevertheless it was an entertaining game and they really put a lot of effort into it to close the gap!

I had a lot of homework this weekend but I spent my Saturday doing it and I got almost all of it done. Now I can just relax and get prepared for my classes tomorrow. I’m currently reading the book “March” for my Civil War FYS class. It’s actually really good which is a shock to me because usually I don’t enjoy school books. But I’m looking forward to the books we’re reading this semester, all except for “Gone With The Wind” of course. ;) It’s a thousand pages so I’ll be preparing myself for it mentally and physically later in the semester!

Getting More Work Done!

Today I had my Civil War FYS class and I enjoyed it! I love history so it seems like it will be a good fit for me. We have to Gone With The Wind which is really long but we have Spring Break to read it so I’ll manage.

I also decided to get ahead on my Spanish homework so I’m caught up all the way till next week. I feel like I’m starting the new semester with a great/fresh start. I start my ballroom dancing physical well-being class on Friday so that should definitely be a new experience!

Proud of Myself

So instead of waiting until tomorrow night to do my assignment, I woke up early today and wrote my essay for one of my classes. I’m glad I didn’t procrastinate. I’m still trying to come to terms with the fact that the new semester is starting in two days!

I guess it is kind of bittersweet. It’s bitter of course because who doesn’t like being off! And it’s sweet because I am pretty excited to get started on my new classes and meet the new people in them.

Today will be a lazy day for me so I’ll probably just lounge around my dorm.

That’s all for today! Thanks for visiting my blog and feel free to leave a comment!

Caught Up On Work!

This week I’ve actually finished all my work ahead of time instead of procrastinating which has led me to having A LOT of free time. I’ve spent it by reading my Sarah Palin book and just reviewing my other work. Although it sounds boring, it has been so relaxing!

Tomorrow I have to give a presentation in my Irish Literature class. Hopefully I do well! I also have a Spanish Quiz which I hope to do well on as well. Pretty soon I feel finals week will be upon us which I am NOT looking forward to.

That’s all for today! Hopefully I’ll have some good and exciting news/things to blog about next time!

The Chicago Marathon and Ireland

This week I have to write three papers. Instead of procrastinating, I actually finished two of them already! I had to write one paper for Chemistry about how I would help the environment if I were elected to be President. It had to be 4-5 pages and actually didn’t take that long to write because I’ve always wanted to be President so I just wrote out what I’ve always wanted to do! :)

I then wrote a “Personality Profile” for my Writing for Print Media class. I chose to write about my friend Jill who recently ran the Chicago Marathon. I just visited her this past weekend at IU so I got to interview her then and it went well! The last paper, which I will write tonight or tomorrow, is for my First Year Seminar class. I think I am going to write about how “The Troubles” in Ireland affected children. I have to defend my case using two of the texts we have read in class.

This weekend I am going home because I have to get a haircut. I can’t wait to see my friends and family! Last time I went home I had so much fun!

That’s all for today! The elections are tomorrow and I’m sad because I’m still 17 so I’m not old enough to vote yet. :( But at least I can vote in the Presidential election in two years! :)
