Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today is another Thanksgiving and before I go downstairs and eat with my family I decided to do a quick blog before I go celebrate. Unfortunately I have homework to do today so I won’t be able to celebrate long but at least it’ll be nice to have some time to relax.

I missed the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade today because I overslept but I’m sure I’ll catch clips online. I always think it’s funny that a lot of people try to skip Thanksgiving and as soon as Halloween ends go right forward to Christmas. To get people in a more Thanksgiving loving mood, here is a funny Thanksgiving video to get you in the mood:

Irwin Can’t Stop

So for the past month I’ve been in the library more than I have in all four years of my college experience. Not only have I been studying for the LSAT, but I’ve also been working on projects, papers, and assignments for all my class. I guess senior year is finally heating up! I’ve been in my same spot almost every day working on something different. This weekend was my break but I’m slowly getting back into the groove again.

Miley Cyrus has mostly been getting me through my homework on my study playlist. I also have to transcribe an interview which means my time with Miley will be cut short. Thankfully blogging this has given me an excuse to procrastinate from finishing the rest of my work this morning. On the bright side, the weather is nicer today so I don’t have to wear a jacket!

Homework Catchup!

A little known fact about me is that I like getting my homework done on Fridays and Saturdays so I can have all Sunday off. That being said, I was unable to do as much homework as I had hoped because I happened to be on Twitter when I saw that Oprah tweeted that she was doing an interview with none other than Beyoncé that night. I obviously had to stop my homework in its tracks and watch it!

Since I spent my night watching two hours of Beyoncé, I then took a break to unwind from the gloriousness I just viewed and was too tired to finish my homework. So now, on this Sunday, I am catching up to finish my homework so I can at least have my night be free. I am currently working on reading 100 pages of Don Quixote and writing a short reflection on it for class. I’m a slow reader so hopefully I am able to truck through it in a timely manner.

My book and how much I've written so far!

Bowling Like A Champ

Yesterday I went with my residents to go bowling and let me tell you, I bowled like a champ. And by that I mean I got last place. But don’t worry, I got last place on purpose! I just didn’t want to shame them with my talent. So if anything, I was doing an act of charity. What a saint I am!

We went to the Woodland bowling alley, which was like 10 minutes away from campus speeding driving. We had so much fun eating, bowling, and taking tons of pictures. I got my first, and only strike, of the night while talking on the phone! So clearly my talent is heightened while I’m distracted.

After I got back to campus, I immediately went back to my room to finish up my homework, which I’m taking a break from now. I need to finish it all before my Super Bowl party tomorrow! Wish me luck!

Break Fun: The Library

Even though I spent a couple days relaxing and doing nothing this break, most of my time was spent doing homework, completing assignments, and working on projects. Today I decided to go to this strange place called the public library and work on my research literature review. I periodically did my homework one course a day during the break so it was a relief to finally get the ball rolling on this last assignment before going back to Butler tomorrow.

With Lana Del Rey on shuffle, I was ready to go! I got through planning my paper and finding all the sources and sites I need to get going. I got a couple pages done but I still have a lot more to go. Hopefully I can get it done by the end of the week.

Getting antsy in the library

Zombie Friends

I am finally back at Butler and I am pretty excited. It was so fun being able to relax at home but now I am ready to get back into the swing of things. I had to write so many papers this weekend I am about to run over to the computer lab before the printer runs out of ink or paper.

The biggest thing I am excited for is that my favorite show, The Walking Dead, has its season premiere tonight! It is about a zombie apocalypse and follows a group of people trying to survive it. There are going to be new characters this season and a new setting so I am pretty excited. I am going to try to force my friend Karleen to watch it with me since I get creeped out watching it by myself!

My partner in crime, Karleen, and I with our matching shirts. Hopefully she'll watch the show with me!

Back to Work

So classes have gotten underway and needless to say I’m up to my neck in homework. Good ole Butler education! I just got done writing my two papers so the tough part is over, thankfully! I just have to read a book for a class and I’m done for the weekend.

I’ve been on duty this weekend so I have had a ton of time to do homework. It has also given me a ton of time to watch a movie, The Princess and the Frog. But for some reason whenever I try to watch it, something always comes up and I can’t! I’ll try again next weekend.

Candid homework shot!

Jimmy Loves Butler

Last night Jimmy Fallon held a show on campus at Clowes Hall and it seems like everyone went but me! I had class when tickets were being sold so I couldn’t buy tickets so I resorted to trying to win the random Twitter contests to win tickets. Of course I didn’t win and spent the night doing homework. Hey, at least I got the majority of my assignments for this week done!

During the time of Jimmy’s performance, there was not a single person in the hallway or lounge so I decided to Skype my friend Katie from high school to keep me company until everyone got back from the show. Of course it is impossible to keep up a 2 hour long Skype conversation so I ended up working out (shocking, I know) until the big season finale of Kourtney and Kim Take New York. It was the big episode where she announces she wants a divorce and it was the best episode EVAR! There was so much drama, crying, and excitement!

Needless to say I ended up having a fun night trying to find random things to do to fill my time and it was nice to finally have a relaxed Sunday evening without stressing about doing all my assignments at the last minute!

This is my friend Taylor and I after our Collegian meeting last week. I was evidently excited for some reason!

Basketball Love

Last night I got my assignments for next week’s Collegian and I’m excited for my stories! I’m covering the two women’s basketball games this week. They play UIC tonight and Loyola on Saturday so I’ll have a busy couple of days. The men’s team coincidentally play on the same days and the same teams so hopefully both teams win both days!

Today is also my last day of classes for the week since I do not have Friday classes so hopefully I’ll be able to get an early start on my assignments. It’ll be weird always having a three day weekend. But I’ll be sure to find something to do! But I’ll also take full advantage of not having to wake up by a certain time for class by waking up at like 1 or 2!

Here’s a cheesy informational video about Hinkle Fieldhouse!

Dancing with the Librarians

On Dancing with the Stars last night, Rob Kardashian, my favorite, made second place. Despite being disappointed, I was also distracted by the fact that there was a Republican CNN debate at the same time. I was so conflicted as to what to watch so I decided to keep flipping channels like a crazy person! I was a little disappointed in this debate as there weren’t as many heated exchanges and verbal attacks as usual! It was just a disappointing television night for me overall!

Today I was a little more productive! I went to the library with my friend Jill and did some homework! Needless to say, I am so far done with half of my assignments! I hadn’t been to my local county library in years and when we went today I was pleasantly surprised to see that it has been completely remodeled and everything is arranged differently than when I was in elementary school! Me and Jill spent about 20 minutes wandering aimlessly trying to find a place to sit and plug in our laptops! Luckily once we found our footing, we were able to get stuff done!

I was also a little sneaky while at the library! Despite its strict no food and drink policy, I was starving and managed to eat a blueberry bagel from Dunkin Donuts while doing work! (Shhh! Be sure not to tell!!!)

Here’s another Black Friday commercial featuring a pretty crazy wacky lady as well! I never noticed the Black Friday commercials before this year but I love them all! Plus, this one takes its tune from the masterpiece that is “Friday.”
