Happy Homecoming!

This weekend I got to celebrate my last official Homecoming as a student at Butler. It was definitely bittersweet but I had so much fun! There were so many activities on campus the past few days, including bouncy rides on the mall, food trucks, random giveaways, and other activities.

This morning they held the Bulldog Beauty contest where people can enter their bulldogs to get judged in a contest. Afterwards there was the football tailgate and the game itself. Thankfully we won the game so it ended up being great all around!

Also, I was prominently featured in one of the Butler sponsored videos about staying safe on Homecoming so once again I’d like to acknowledge how I’m keeping campus safe one day at a time. No big deal. You can see me at 1:15.

Butler Homecoming 2012

This past week was Homecoming and it was so much fun! Every day there has been some kind of event or activity on campus. I had a lot of assignments to complete this weekend so I’ve definitely been trying to juggle all of the activities/events and my homework! I’ve done everything but two assignments so I think I’m in pretty good standing right now.

Yesterday was the day with the most events. Not only was there a chariot race and a parade, but there was also a tailgate and football game. My friend Karleen and I went to the tailgate and got to see not only my residents in my unit but also many of our alumni friends that recently graduated. After the numerous meet and greets with everyone, we were able to stop by the football game for a bit. Overall, it was a fun day and I am sad the weekend is ending so soon! Now back to work!

Scared to Sleep

So this weekend was Homecoming and it was extremely fun! I went to the parade and went to the football game. The team was losing at half time which was disappointing but at least I got to see who won King and Queen!

Here’s a Homecoming video where VP Johnson gives free Starbucks to everyone in line at Starbucks:

After halftime I left and went to finish working on a ten page paper I have to write for my media literacy class! D: But, it was actually not as bad as I thought it would be and I finished in time to go eat at Olive Garden with some friends. Then we went to see Paranormal Activity 3.

Let me start by saying it may have been the scariest/freakiest thing I’ve ever seen. I’m easily scared which may have something everything to do with it but it was still pretty scary. I’ve never seen the other two movies but I still enjoyed it. Though it was a good movie, I was still scared to go to sleep afterwards!

The Chicago Marathon and Ireland

This week I have to write three papers. Instead of procrastinating, I actually finished two of them already! I had to write one paper for Chemistry about how I would help the environment if I were elected to be President. It had to be 4-5 pages and actually didn’t take that long to write because I’ve always wanted to be President so I just wrote out what I’ve always wanted to do! :)

I then wrote a “Personality Profile” for my Writing for Print Media class. I chose to write about my friend Jill who recently ran the Chicago Marathon. I just visited her this past weekend at IU so I got to interview her then and it went well! The last paper, which I will write tonight or tomorrow, is for my First Year Seminar class. I think I am going to write about how “The Troubles” in Ireland affected children. I have to defend my case using two of the texts we have read in class.

This weekend I am going home because I have to get a haircut. I can’t wait to see my friends and family! Last time I went home I had so much fun!

That’s all for today! The elections are tomorrow and I’m sad because I’m still 17 so I’m not old enough to vote yet. :( But at least I can vote in the Presidential election in two years! :)

The Homecoming Conclusion!

I thoroughly enjoyed my first ever Butler Homecoming! It was great seeing the alumni and current students get together and support our bulldogs! On Hampton Drive, there was a chariot race! I planned on attending but I slept through my alarm :(. I heard it was a great time and it is fun to see the fraternities get together and support their brothers.

Then there was the football game. Butler made a series of comebacks and it was, hands down, the most exciting game I’ve ever been to. Butler was in the lead but lost in the final minute. The bulldogs put up a great fight and I couldn’t ask for anything more! The final score was 21-20.

That’s all for today!

Homecoming Activities!

There are so many things to do this week during Homecoming! Tonight there is Midnight Snack which I hear is A LOT of fun! There will be lots of food ranging from McDonalds to Ripple Bagel & Deli! I love Ripple Bagel and Deli! Whenever my friends come to visit me from out of town I always take them there. If you plan to visit make sure you get one of their delicious cookies!

On Saturday morning, there is going to be a chariot race down Hampton Drive! SOme of the fraternities are going to be competing against each other. I plan to attend because it seems like it will be a fun time! It starts at 9 AM so I guess I’ll have to get up early (Except for Chemistry Lab, I don’t even have classes that start that early!).

In more important news, the Yankees are struggling in the playoffs :(

I know they’ll come back and won’t disappoint! :)

That’s all for today!

I always come to this area on campus to study! It's so peaceful with the fountain and the scenery.

Back to Homework :( But Homecoming Nonetheless

There are events and activities each day this week! Today there are supposed to be Italian Gondola Rides to the Indianapolis Canal and there is supposed to be the International Adventure which is supposed to have bull rides, sumo wrestling, and TONS of other fun activities!

Also, this week, despite it being Homecoming, my teachers decided to load on the homework! I have to read a WHOLE BOOK called Ourselves Alone by Anne Devlin for Thursday and write a paper on it. I also have to write an article for my Writing for Print Media class over this speech. Thankfully I’ve already seen the speech but it was my Junior year in high school so I still have to refresh what I know! I have a Chemistry test coming up this week and lastly I have to read a handout for math! Thankfully my Spanish test for this week was postponed!

This Weekend!

I am excited! Tonight I am going to see the performance of Eurydice at Lilly Hall, which houses the music school. I am also going on a retreat this weekend with Butler’s Cru. It is Butler’s Christian group. I will be driving two other people to the retreat in my car.

One perk that Butler provides that many other schools don’t is that Freshmen are allowed to have cars on campus. It definitely comes in handy when I’m out of water or floss!

Tomorrow should be a pretty easy day. I only have two classes tomorrow and no tests (thankfully!). Next week is fall break and the week after that is HOMECOMING! I think I will go to the boys soccer game against Loyola Chicago since some of my friends attend the school and may come to the game!

That’s all for today!
