Sports Fanatic!!

Since taking my Sportswriting course, I’ve become a sports fanatic! I have been constantly checking the ESPN website to get the latest updates and scores. I’ve been especially checking the US Open matches! Hopefully Serena Williams can pull out a win today!

I’ve also been keeping up with football and baseball. Of course I’ve always loved the Yankees but I’ve recently become a New York Jets fan! They play the Cowboys tonight so I know I’ll be up watching that tonight!

On a side note, today is the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. I was in fourth grade when it happened. I did not understand the complexity of the issue at the time but now I see what an impact it has made on our country. Now, we can be grateful that we live in a safer and more united America. The Collegian is doing a staff reflection on its website today about what happened.

Here’s a video that serves as a tribute to the day

Back to Work!

I’m so glad to finally be back at Butler! I’ve been super busy with all my courses and extracurriculars! I decided to take a break from my homework to talk about what I’ve been up to!

For starters, I just joined the Butler Collegian, Butler’s student newspaper. It comes out every Wednesday and we put in a lot of work into making it perfect. I write for the news section! I’m also a member of College Democrats again and yesterday we started planning some awesome events for this upcoming year! Stay tuned to my blog for more about that!

I’m also pretty excited for all of my courses. I’m really excited about my Sportswriting class. Though I have a couple of favorite sports teams, I’m not much of a sports junkie so I’ve been consistently checking ESPN everyday just to get up to speed on the latest sports news.

Since today is the first home game of the football season, I thought I’d share a Butler football video I found online!

Super Bowl in Review

Needless to say, I’m happy the Packers won. It was a great game, especially when the Steelers came back to tighten it up. And despite all the criticism, I really enjoyed the Black Eyed Peas‘ halftime performance. However, I wish they sang more songs from their latest album but it was great to hear their hits.

Also, I usually always find things wrong with Christina Aguilera but I can really understand why she messed up the words to the National Anthem. It’s hard getting up on stage and singing in front of 100 million people. Kudos for her for getting the courage to do it.

With regards to commercials, my favorite one has to be the Volkswagen. one with the kid dressed as Darth Vader. You can see it here.

The Homecoming Conclusion!

I thoroughly enjoyed my first ever Butler Homecoming! It was great seeing the alumni and current students get together and support our bulldogs! On Hampton Drive, there was a chariot race! I planned on attending but I slept through my alarm :( . I heard it was a great time and it is fun to see the fraternities get together and support their brothers.

Then there was the football game. Butler made a series of comebacks and it was, hands down, the most exciting game I’ve ever been to. Butler was in the lead but lost in the final minute. The bulldogs put up a great fight and I couldn’t ask for anything more! The final score was 21-20.

That’s all for today!
