Meeting A Quarterback

Last week during my internship, they were holding a health fair and in order to entice people to attend, the Washington Redskins Quarterback Kirk Cousins was there! I’m not much of a football aficionado, even though I can pretend to care when I have to, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to meet a pro NFL player even though I didn’t really know him. I waited in line for about 25 minutes but I eventually got close enough and got a picture with him.

After he took a picture with me, he then signed one of the magazines they were handing out. He was extremely nice while meeting me and was pretty tall. Now that I’ve met him, I’m sure my sports prowess will rub off on him and the Redskins will win the Super Bowl next year.

In the heat of meeting him, I totally forgot that there was a health fair going on! So even though I didn’t get a flu shot like the event intended, I was able to spin a wheel and won a mood ring. In case you were wondering, when I put it on it said I was depressed…… Awkward…….

Music Monday: Beyoncé Bowl

Beyoncé won the Super Bowl this year.

Instead of watching the Puppy Bowl this year, I decided to watch the real version. Only because Beyoncé was the halftime performer. I would also like to point out the fact that I correctly chose the winner of the game which means I’m on a two year win streak on choosing the winner of the Super Bowl. Maybe I should try to make money off of my talent in the future.

Now on to the performance… I thought it was great! Beyoncé looked spectacular, the song choices were great, and Destiny’s Child reunited! I was only disappointed in the fact that she did not sing a new song but the performance was still great nonetheless! She is supposed to be attending the Grammys this upcoming Sunday so hopefully she will be making a surprise performance with a brand new song! It’ll make my life complete.

Super Bowl Prediction

The Super Bowl is this Sunday and commentators and analysts have been giving their two cents on who they believe will win. While their predictions may be based on sports knowledge and facts, my prediction, however, is based on random things and which team’s colors I like best. That being said, here are my five reasons why I predict the Baltimore Ravens will win the Super Bowl this year:

1. Their colors are purple and black, which are much cooler than San Francisco’s red and gold!

2. Baltimore is on the East Coast and clearly, as established by Jay Z, the East Coast is clearly superior to the West Coast.

3. Baltimore is the only team I knew for certain was in the Super Bowl until I looked up who their opponent was a few minutes ago.

4. Red and gold are my high school’s colors as well…. *Shudders*

5.  San Francisco is where the show “That’s So Raven” took place which was like my favorite show and now it doesn’t air anymore so the city reminds me of sadness. :(

Butler Homecoming 2012

This past week was Homecoming and it was so much fun! Every day there has been some kind of event or activity on campus. I had a lot of assignments to complete this weekend so I’ve definitely been trying to juggle all of the activities/events and my homework! I’ve done everything but two assignments so I think I’m in pretty good standing right now.

Yesterday was the day with the most events. Not only was there a chariot race and a parade, but there was also a tailgate and football game. My friend Karleen and I went to the tailgate and got to see not only my residents in my unit but also many of our alumni friends that recently graduated. After the numerous meet and greets with everyone, we were able to stop by the football game for a bit. Overall, it was a fun day and I am sad the weekend is ending so soon! Now back to work!

Karleen and I holding the most adorable girl in the world at the football tailgate!

Fantasy League

As I previously said in an earlier post, I really want to start my own fantasy football league after being inspired by watching the show The League. Well, I have peer pressured some of my fellow RAs into making one and we are having our draft tonight! The timing is awkward since the NFL season started today but that’s another story…

Our league is called “The Sco” since all but one of us live in Resco. I already have my quarterback, Cam Newton, picked out but the rest of my day will be spent researching what other players I should pick. Maybe I’ll watch whatever games are on today and make my decisions based on that. Hopefully I win!

If you know me, I'm sure you can tell which team mine is.

Inner Athlete

Since I’m in the sports section of the paper, I have decided to embrace my inner athlete and watch/enjoy sports. That being said, I am now an official fan of the Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, and the Lakers. Hopefully now by watching more sports I’ll be able to use it in my writing for the paper since I hardly know anything about them!

I have always been a Yankees and Lakers fan but I’ve never really actively watched their games before but now that’ll change with my newly rejuvenated fandom. I also used to like the Jets in football only because I saw that they were winning at one point, but now I’ve randomly chosen the Cowboys, probably because their hats were on sale and I bought one!

This week for the paper I have to cover men’s and women’s golf, which is exciting since I’ve never covered it/watched it before! But regardless, hopefully the teams win!

Just showing off my new Cowboys hat! No big deal!

The Next Tim Tebow

Once again I had a blast at my volunteer at the Kaleidoscope Youth Center. After I helped the kids with their homework, everyone was allowed to play outside. Since I was the oldest, all the kids wanted me to play football with them so I reluctantly agreed. I should probably remind you of the fact that I have no idea how to even play the game!

Needless to sayI was appointed quarterback and  I was the best player. That was probably because I was playing against a bunch of 7 year olds! But still, I was so good I’m basically the next Tim Tebow.

After getting chased around by a bunch of kids, they all decided that they wanted to run and play with their kites they made during crafts. Of course I had to run with them and I had a fun time doing so! I had so much fun that they even inspired me to want to have about 7 kids so I can start my own Kardashian Klan!

Some of the kids I work with flying their kites!

Super Bowl Mania!

I was able to go downtown to see all of the Super Bowl setups and stages and it was amazing! I saw so many NF stars, incuding Jason Taylor and Robert Kraft, who owns the Patriots! I also almost saw Kim Kardashian, the Mannings, and Adam Sandler, which will be another post in itself! And yes, you read that correctly, I almost met Kim!

I’m actually not that big of a football fan so I’m only watching because of Madonna performing at halftime. She’s supposed to be putting on “the performance of a lifetime” so hopefully she won’t disappoint! Instead of choosing a team, whenever someone asks who I want to win, I just say the Colts and pretend as though I’m serious! It’s fun to see all the weird faces I get!

After Madonna’s performance I’ll probably go to bed and wake up to see who won! I can never patiently wait and watch a game. And since the game this year is supposed to be 3 hours long, I’ll probably do homework during the game too!

To see if I’m right, I’m going to predict that the Giants will win 23-17 over the Patriots. I don’t really care who wins and I just randomly picked a score so it’ll be even greater if I’m right!

Celebrities Galore

Since the Super Bowl is in town there have been numerous celebrity sightings all around Indianapolis. Yesterday, many people were posting on Facebook how they saw Beyonce, Ryan Gosling, and random football players in the city. I’m getting jealous of everyone’s sightings and have decided to go celebrity hunting downtown tomorrow since I don’t have Friday classes! Maybe I’ll happen to stumble past Madonna practicing for her halftime performance!

After Jimmy Fallon’s show on campus on Sunday, he came back the next day to film scenes for a skit in one of the dorms! Fallon even tweeted a picture of some students in Schwitzer! OF COURSE I had class while he was here but it was fun to still know he was somewhere on campus.

Tonight I’m supposed to be going with my friend Jill to see Bob Costas‘ show about the Super Bowl. I’m really excited and hopefully some all-star celebrity football players make an appearance too!

One of my friends took this right before the Jimmy show!

Bad News Bears

Yesterday, as I was enjoying my vacation, I decided to watch some Sunday football. Though I’m an avid New York Jets fan, after watching the Bears game yesterday, I became a fan of them as well! I really like the way the Bears play and I think all of the Chicago fans are getting to me!

I also witnessed Bears quarterback Jay Cutler break his thumb which may end his season. Hopefully he can recover quickly enough to make sure the Bears don’t face the same fate as the Colts this season. This season is becoming more and more exciting as the weeks go on and I have no idea who will be in the Super Bowl in Indy this year! I really hope I can go because I hear that one of my favorite singers, Nicki Minaj, is supposed to be performing with Madonna at halftime! I can’t wait!

I’ve been seeing this Target commercial a lot lately and I’m not quite sure what it’s saying…. BUT! I still find it awkwardly hilarious each time I see it! Hopefully I don’t encounter anyone like her when I go Black Friday shopping this this week!
