Procrastination Station

This weekend I’ve been procrastinating galore and now I have to do half of my homework today. In my defense, I tried to start yesterday but I kept getting distracted by everyone! Whether it was residents coming to my room, having to go out shopping for new cologne, or just dancing in the middle of my hallway, I had a pretty busy day yesterday!

This morning, after finishing one of my papers, I decided to take a break and watch Youtube videos. One of my old favorites I came upon was “Shy Ronnie” from SNL, which features Rihanna. Shy Ronnie is always too shy to sing in front of Rihanna but he gets pretty sassy when she’s gone. It’s by far my favorite SNL skit.

Homework Catchup!

A little known fact about me is that I like getting my homework done on Fridays and Saturdays so I can have all Sunday off. That being said, I was unable to do as much homework as I had hoped because I happened to be on Twitter when I saw that Oprah tweeted that she was doing an interview with none other than Beyoncé that night. I obviously had to stop my homework in its tracks and watch it!

Since I spent my night watching two hours of Beyoncé, I then took a break to unwind from the gloriousness I just viewed and was too tired to finish my homework. So now, on this Sunday, I am catching up to finish my homework so I can at least have my night be free. I am currently working on reading 100 pages of Don Quixote and writing a short reflection on it for class. I’m a slow reader so hopefully I am able to truck through it in a timely manner.

My book and how much I've written so far!

Academics

I think the most important thing about colleges like Butler that gets lost in the fray of information is all the academic opportunities. Besides all the majors in all six colleges, there are also resources that can help you in your classes.

The Writer’s Studio is open to all students to help with any writing assignment that a student might have. Whether you need help with coming up with ideas or want someone to look over work you have done, there are students in the writer’s studio that can help. But if someone has a speaking assignment such as a PowerPoint presentation or a speech, there is also the Speakers Lab that students can go to for help with how to get started or for ideas on how to improve a completed presentation.

I love that both of these are available since writing or giving presentations might not be strongpoints for many students.

Here’s a video for more information on academic resources for students:

Shopping Scarcity

The school year is ironically the time I shop the most which is weird since it’s the time I’m busiest. That being said, I haven’t gone shopping or to the mall since before the semester ended! This is good and bad. It’s good because it means I’ve probably broken my strange shopping addiction but it’s bad because I haven’t gotten anything new in a month!

To solve this conundrum, and since I was too lazy to go to the mall, I decided to embrace my inner online shopper and order things online! I ordered clothes from American Eagle and I ordered some new gym shoes from Puma. So far I’m still awaiting the arrival of my shoes but my clothes came on Friday. THANK GOODNESS! It felt like a mini Christmas.

My clothes that came in on Friday! Still waiting on my shoes!

We So Excited…

Since it is the end of the year, there have been many events and activities scheduled on campus! On Saturday there was a platform on the mall and several bands played little gigs. Alongside the mini-concert was free tacos from West Coast Tacos! Free tacos and concert? I’m totally there!

Today there were crews of people setting up carnival rides and moon bounces on the mall. I did not stick around because it was raining but I am sure it was fun! I saw all the rides when I was coming back from selling my books back to the Butler bookstore. Only then did it strike me that my freshman year is basically over (except for those pesky finals but let’s disregard that!).

Although it is Monday, the song Friday is randomly stuck in my head so while looking it up online I came across this other Rebecca Black video!

Happy Easter!

A lot of my friends went home for the Easter weekend so it has been a quiet weekend! The good part about it is that parking has been great! No more long walks in the parking lot! Well… At least for this week!

This week is the last week of classes and I couldn’t be happier. This school year has flown by so fast! It seems like just yesterday I had my map, trying to find my classes.

Last week I scheduled my classes for next year and I am excited! I finished all of my required classes so now I am going to start having courses more related to my major. I am most excited for my Sports Journalism class. It is definitely out of my comfort zone so I can’t wait to see how I do!

I love this song! It is such a feel good song. It’s even my ringtone!

Stereo Love

The song “Stereo Love” has been randomly stuck in my head all day. I’m glad I shared that random fact!

Today me and my FYS partner met to discuss our project we have to present in class. We have to talk about one of the chapters we were assigned in the book Confederates in the Attic. It is actually a very interesting book! My group was assigned a chapter that deals with Gone With the Wind, which is another book we read this semester! So basically we got the best chapter and are going to rock our presentation!

As I mentioned on my last post, I have a ridiculous amount of assignments due this week… I think it will be worth it next week since I don’t have much due. I’m guessing professors are cramming everything in before the end of the semester!! Summer just cannot come fast enough!

The Chicago Marathon and Ireland

This week I have to write three papers. Instead of procrastinating, I actually finished two of them already! I had to write one paper for Chemistry about how I would help the environment if I were elected to be President. It had to be 4-5 pages and actually didn’t take that long to write because I’ve always wanted to be President so I just wrote out what I’ve always wanted to do! :)

I then wrote a “Personality Profile” for my Writing for Print Media class. I chose to write about my friend Jill who recently ran the Chicago Marathon. I just visited her this past weekend at IU so I got to interview her then and it went well! The last paper, which I will write tonight or tomorrow, is for my First Year Seminar class. I think I am going to write about how “The Troubles” in Ireland affected children. I have to defend my case using two of the texts we have read in class.

This weekend I am going home because I have to get a haircut. I can’t wait to see my friends and family! Last time I went home I had so much fun!

That’s all for today! The elections are tomorrow and I’m sad because I’m still 17 so I’m not old enough to vote yet. :( But at least I can vote in the Presidential election in two years! :)
