Merry Christmas!

For those who celebrate, Merry Christmas everyone! I hope everyone has a great and warm holiday this year. Before the eating and unwrapping of gifts begins, I wanted to make a quick blog to talk about the holiday and such.

Thankfully it’s not snowing outside because 1. “White Christmas” is one of my least favorite Christmas songs and 2. I hate the cold. It’s also good because I plan to go shopping tomorrow with all of my Christmas money and the roads need to be clear to make way for me!

One of my favorite Christmas songs, however, is “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey. But since I’ve been listening to Michael Bublé’s Christmas album, I thought I’d post his version! His voice is reminiscent of drinking hot chocolate by the fire on a cold day. That basically means I love it! Even though I’ve never actually done that and I hate hot chocolate, his music is just too good.

Wide Awake

Since I’ve had a lack of substantial finals to do this week but still have to be here because I’m an RA, my sleeping patterns have been out of whack and I’ve been sleeping a lot during the day and wide awake at night. Not even coffee and Red Bull have been able to keep me up during the day but I’ve been slowly managing. I guess my days of being an early bird are slowly being left behind.

I only have to be here two more days so that’s pretty exciting. It has been so fun seeing campus getting emptier and emptier as the days go on. I cannot wait to see how quiet things are on Saturday night! And it’ll be extremely strange seeing the parking lot empty on Sunday.

I just woke up from a nap and thought it appropriately described me.

Music Monday: A Bublé Christmas

I’ve been going through weird music phases, and one of them is being awkwardly obsessed with Michael Bublé lately. I just got his Christmas album and I’ve been listening to it nonstop, which is weird because I usually don’t like to listen to Christmas music. My favorite songs by him are “Cry Me a River” and “Haven’t Met You Yet.” Whenever I listen to “Haven’t Met You Yet” I always want to prance around a grocery store since he does it in the music video.

Speaking of Christmas, I cannot wait to go home for the holidays. Not because I’m excited for Christmas itself, but I’m just excited to be done with the semester! I hate all the attention, shocking I know, that comes from giving and receiving presents, which is why I always just ask for money! I especially just hate the cold! Hopefully it is not a white Christmas this year! Bah humbug!

Blogging Party

Yesterday we had our annual blogger’s Christmas Party at our boss’, Kristen’s, house. And once again, it was a blast! When we first got there, thanks to Katie‘s glorious driving, we were able to eat. Kristen had prepared us some delicious food and I definitely ate too much! While we ate, all of us bloggers got to catch up and talk about the current state of our semesters and how things have been since the last time we met up.

After we chatted, we proceeded to watch the movie Elf. Elf is one of those movies that almost everyone else but me has seen and everyone seemingly quotes it and references it and I never get the jokes. But I unfortunately could not concentrate as there was only one thing on my mind, building the Gingerbread house. I’ve never built one before so it was definitely a life-changing experience. I designated myself as being the person who placed the icing that held the house together so needless to say, I had the most important job.

Afterwards, Kristen gave us all gifts and we were able to make it back to Butler, where I started studying for finals.

Christmas Shopping

Today I went Christmas shopping for all the people I need to go shopping for. Not only did I get my friend Karleen part 2 of her Christmas gift, I also got a little Christmas gift for myself from J Crew. I got a nice new sweater that will hopefully get me through finals week next week! But until then, I’ll just have to make do with what’s already in my closet.

It was also surprisingly crowded at the mall today. I literally had to park in the last row of cars so evidently everyone else got the bright idea to go Christmas shopping today just like me. Hopefully all the people I bought gifts for like them! Christmas shopping is my least favorite thing to do because I never know what to give people. I’d rather just give a gift card!

Nice Residents

On Friday night, my faculty in residence took about 25 people from our wing in our residence hall to see the Nutcracker for free! She had snacks and food in her apartment before the performance and then I walked over with my residents to see the ballet. It was such a great performance and it was nice recognizing people I knew in the ballet.

Yesterday, as I was minding my business in my room, I got a knock at my door from some of my residents bearing gifts for me! It was so nice since I wasn’t expecting it! Aly gave me a Santa Claus  sticky and wrote me a nice letter while Tammy got me a scarf and bear from Starbucks. I’m glad they thought of me enough to get me a gift!

Christmas Shopping Day

Today, since I did not have classes, I dedicated to purchasing Christmas gifts for those I have to buy gifts for! My biggest priority was buying a gift for my best pal Karleen. I know she reads my blog so I won’t reveal the contents of the gift but hopefully she likes it! There is also an RA Secret Santa giveaway and I had to buy a gift for another one of the RAs so hopefully he or she likes their gift as well! I usually go down the giftcard route for Christmas gifts but I decided to give real gifts this year instead.

After I got back to campus, I saw none other than the cutest baby in the world roaming campus, little baby Violet. Of course I had to take a picture with her! You can obviously tell by the disinterested/worried look on her face that I’m her favorite person in the world. I just have that effect on people, especially children.

Magnificent Parade

Yesterday I went to downtown Chicago and attended the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival and I really enjoyed it! I had the secret hope of being on the news but I unfortunately didn’t make an appearance. Maybe next time! The parade/lights show marked the first time that all the Christmas lights in the city were being officially lit up.

There were seemingly millions of people in the streets and I could barely get a good view of the parade! I was tempted to get on someone’s shoulders and pretend they were my parent but decided against it. My favorite balloon was that of Rudolph because, I can’t tell if it was because of the wind or the people holding the strings, he was knocking into the crowd and it was very entertaining.

Merry (Late) Christmas!

Christmas has passed and it was a fun day! I started it by going to church with my family. Then we came home and ate ourselves silly! I could NOT get enough of the apple pie my grandma made and I also probably ate my weight in mashed potatoes too! I’ll be sure to workout twice as hard the rest of this week!!

My favorite part, of course, were the presents! I got everything I wanted and I cannot wait to go shopping this week with all the gift cards I got! I would have gone today but I’m 100% sure traffic was CRAZY! Instead, I spent my day watching episodes of The Office on DVD. My favorite episode is, coincidentally, the Christmas Party episode.

Angela is my favorite character and she has a big part in the episode which is probably why I like it so much! The only part I don’t like about her is her weird obsession with cats. Although kittens can be cute, I will forever be a dog person! They are much friendlier and you can train them to do tricks! Cats just lay around……. #dogsrule

People….EVERYWHERE!

I am FINALLY done shopping after a hectic day at the mall! Advice: NEVER go to the mall two days before Christmas if you plan on having a quick run and calmly browsing for gifts. Traffic was a little busier than expected but once I got to the mall, the lines were HUGE! I like being in crowds so it wasn’t too bad but I could barely even walk without bumping into people. It was like Black Friday part two!

I went to Yankee Candle to get some last minute gifts for my family. They had a buy one get one half off sale so that was an unexpected surprise! They had so many good smells that it was hard to choose which to get! Then I stopped by Carsons to get myself some new pajamas. Hopefully I don’t get any as a gift for Christmas! One of the good things about being at the mall on such a busy day is that I ran into so many people from high school that I knew! It was fun quickly catching up and promising to make plans during break!

As I left the mall traffic was getting heavier so I decided to get some Chipotle in hopes that there would be less people once I was done eating. Surprisingly, there was hardy anyone at Chipotle (I guess they were all shopping) and I had a nice relaxing dinner.

It was a fun day overall and I’m glad to finally be done with my last minute Christmas shopping! I caught a lot of good sales so I guess that’s a plus for putting it off for so long!

I promise here’s the last Christmas video I’ll share! It’s just so cheesy I couldn’t resist!
