Almost There

Today is the last day for students to leave the residence halls, marking the official end of the semester. I’m going to be a Summer RA this summer so fortunately for me, I don’t have to move out just yet! But it’s also sad since it means all my friends and residents will soon be gone. I have definitely been a little sad checking out all my residents from their rooms and seeing campus slowly but surely get emptier and emptier.

So last night my friend Alan had a last gathering in his room last night. It was our friend Arielle’s birthday so we made sure to sing to her! None of us are graduating just yet so we still have all of next year to hang and get chummy! It’s so weird how fast the end of the year came.

Music Tuesday: Beyoncé

So I’m a day late with my Music Monday so I decided to make a Music Tuesday today. It has been so bright and sunny out lately so I thought it would be fitting for today’s Music Tuesday to be dedicated to Beyoncé and her song in the H&M commercial “Standing On The Sun.”

Beyoncé is the new face of the swim line at H&M, which happens to be my favorite clothing store. Her commercial for the line is glorious to say the least. It involves her dancing and frolicking around on the beach. If only I looked that great on the beach. Instead, I look like a beached whale that gets awkward and gangly. But I digress.

Unfortunately I don’t wear bikinis so I can’t get any clothes from the line but I can admire from afar, in the least creepy sounding way possible.

Party at Carney’s

So the professor of my Don Quixote class, Dr. Carney, invited the class over for dinner and refreshments at her house. I’ve previously been to her house from previous classes with her so I was glad to obligue. My friend Nicole, who is also in the class, and I decided to go together and, as always, it was tons of fun.

She served us pasta, sauce, sparkling water, salad, garlic bread, cupcakes, and coffee. It was all so delicious and I was definitely stuffed when we left! We got to sit on her couches and look at all the cool things in her house, including a samurai sword, sage she got from Spain, and an organe tree her husband has grown/kept since he was in college. So it’s basically a house full of discoveries and I love it. I highly recommend taking a class with Dr. Carney!

Cheesecake Party

Yesterday the Pangans, the Faculty in Residence in my residence hall, had a cheesecake and cupcakes party in their apartment. Of course I had to go! I love taking pictures with their kids so I had to go just to see them! I went with my pal Karleen and we had a great time.

While there I saw fellow blogging pal Bekah. Twas weird seeing her in my building but was nice nonetheless! I should’ve known she would make her way into an event with free food somehow, even if she doesn’t live in the building!

Music Monday: Last Day

So today is the last day of classes and it is bitter-sweet. Although I’m happy to be almost done with the semester, it also means I’m that much closer to having to go out in the real world. Thankfully I have a couple more years before I have to do that just yet.

The song I chose today is “School’s Out” by Alice Cooper. I thought it was fitting since school is almost out. I couldn’t find a music video for the song like my normal Music Mondays but this live performance will do. It’s kind of scary but that’s what I like about it!

Over Achieving Boredom

So finals are coming up this week and luckily for me I only really have one actual exam and the rest are just writing final papers. Since I want to make the most of my relaxation time. So that means this weekend I have been  unnecessarily  finishing most of my papers for classes so next week I won’t have much to do.

Since I’ve been doing all of my assignments so awkwardly early, I’ve been using a lot of my free time to browse the web and see what I find. One of the things I’ve found a new pasion for are stop motion videos. They involve so much work and effort to make that it amazes me whenever I see intricate ones. This is one of my favorites:

Hopefully one day, with enough patience, I will be able to make one too.

I Am Picasso

This past weekend I had to work on my Spanish final project with my group. We decided to use our project to highlight the issue of violence, specifically in Chile in the 1970s. None of us are artists in the slightest but we somehow managed to make our paintings look slightly recognizable.

The pictures deal with the kidnapping of innocent people, the holding of political prisoners, and the glimmer of hope for people during the time. This has been the focus lately in my Mysterious Stories Spanish course and it has definitely been interesting since I have previously talked about the same subject matter in some of my Political Science courses. Hopefully we get a good grade!

Music Monday: Earth Day

Today is Earth Day, peeps! So to celebrate, go out and recycle, plant a flower, or anything to show appreciation for Mother Earth. I personally have a love/hate relationship for Mother Earth depending on the weather but ultimately she and I are homies so I’ll make sure I do something special for her.

Today’s Music Monday is dedicated to Jack Johnson. Besides being a musician, he also actively campaigns for Save the Earth initiatives such as keeping beaches clean and for climate change. His “You and Your Heart” music video features a lot of nature images and truly showcases how beautiful the world can be if we take good care of it.

RA of the Universe

So last week at our weekly RA staff meeting, I was bestowed with the honors of being RA of the Week and RA of the Month. So, basically, this makes me RA of the universe. To celebrate my new reign, I decided to get snacks and drinks for my residents and held an impromptu event in my room.

Since I’m now royalty, I decided to treat myself to caviar from Whole Foods. I was expecting it to taste bitter and terrible but it was actually quite delicious. So I spent all Friday night doing homework, listening to Lana Del Rey, and eating caviar. If that’s not luxurious, I don’t know what is.

Dinner with Kristen

So all of us bloggers had our last dinner with our boss Kristen who accepted a position at a new place so I’m excited for her but sad that she’s leaving. I remember getting my first email from her about being a blogger my freshman year and loving her ever since. Kristen is seriously one of the nicest people in the world and I’m going to miss her so much!

She took us all out to eat at Three Wise Men in Broad Ripple and it was delicious! Besides getting wings for an appetizer, I also got chips and a huge Chicken Parm sandwich. Needless to say I have a lot left over and will probably be eating it for the next couple of days. It was such a great way to say goodbye but I’m sure she’ll always be around so we can see her! She also gave us these great parting gifts that included Target giftcards, sticky notes, and tons of candy!

Thanks, Kristen!

All of us with Kristen!
