People….EVERYWHERE!

I am FINALLY done shopping after a hectic day at the mall! Advice: NEVER go to the mall two days before Christmas if you plan on having a quick run and calmly browsing for gifts. Traffic was a little busier than expected but once I got to the mall, the lines were HUGE! I like being in crowds so it wasn’t too bad but I could barely even walk without bumping into people. It was like Black Friday part two!

I went to Yankee Candle to get some last minute gifts for my family. They had a buy one get one half off sale so that was an unexpected surprise! They had so many good smells that it was hard to choose which to get! Then I stopped by Carsons to get myself some new pajamas. Hopefully I don’t get any as a gift for Christmas! One of the good things about being at the mall on such a busy day is that I ran into so many people from high school that I knew! It was fun quickly catching up and promising to make plans during break!

As I left the mall traffic was getting heavier so I decided to get some Chipotle in hopes that there would be less people once I was done eating. Surprisingly, there was hardy anyone at Chipotle (I guess they were all shopping) and I had a nice relaxing dinner.

It was a fun day overall and I’m glad to finally be done with my last minute Christmas shopping! I caught a lot of good sales so I guess that’s a plus for putting it off for so long!

I promise here’s the last Christmas video I’ll share! It’s just so cheesy I couldn’t resist!

Shopping Rehab

I’ll admit it, I have a shopping problem! I’ve recently explored the world of online shopping and now I cannot stop! It is so convenient to just buy everything you need with the click of a mouse! I’ve been hitting up Kohls lately and I cannot wait for all the new clothes I bought to come in! I’m mostly excited for the new Moccasins to come.

My friend Jill also informed me that there is an outlet mall near me and I’ve been addicted to shopping there too! Evidently it has been there for years but of course I was out of the loop and just heard of it! My favorite place to shop there is Calvin Klein. It was so great to buy everything I wanted for half price! I’m even going there today to get new pajamas!

While out shopping I’ve also been getting Christmas presents for my family! I STILL haven’t finished buying them yet so hopefully I’ll find something today before it’s too late!

To get you in the holiday mood, here’s the super creepy Justin Bieber/Mariah Carey music video for “All I Want For Christmas Is You”!

Wet Christmas

Break has been wonderful so far! I can literally say I have done nothing but eat, sleep, and watch television every day so far which is exactly how I like it! I’ve also been able to catch up on all the episodes of Fear Factor I’ve missed this season! I’ve also developed a new strange love for UFC. I’ve been watching it nonstop and I even bought the 100 Best UFC fights of all time on DVD as an early Christmas present to myself!

I also found out that I’m going to be assistant sports editor for the Collegian next semester, which probably explains my new UFC obsession! I’m really excited since sports is a new world to me so it’ll be interesting to see how I do at my new position. I’ve been watching ESPN daily to try to catch myself up on the latest sports news!

The best thing about break has been the fact that it hasn’t snowed and has been raining instead! I have mixed emotions toward snow. I only enjoy it when it has the potential to cancel classes and school but other than that, I’d prefer not to be bothered! I hate slipping on ice and having to clean off my car! Maybe I’ll get lucky and not have a terrible winter like last year!

^This is the only thing that would make me slightly enjoy the snow and cold weather!

I’m A Celebrity

I’ve been studying tirelessly for my last final for the past few days. I’m so excited to finally being able to go home soon! I’ve yet to start packing so I guess I’ll awkwardly start on that later! My final isn’t until tonight so I’ll have plenty of time to finish start packing.

Yesterday, as I took a break from studying, I decided to make a GooglePlus account! I was amazed to see how many people are on it and all the celebrities that have embraced it too. Also, after I followed Britney Spears, she followed me back! Needless to say, this probably makes me a celebrity now. Move over, Bieber!

I’m really looking forward to going home to be with my family and friends. I really want to see the new movie The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo so hopefully I can force one of my friends to go with me! The trailer looks so creepy, so I’m pretty ecstatic!

This is me and my friend Jill getting rowdy in the library over Thanksgiving break showing off my leopard socks!

Stop the Presses!

Last Wednesday was the last day of working on the newspaper for the semester! It was so fun working on The Collegian this semester and I cannot wait to start again next semester! I was so great to be able to interview so many new and exciting people and I look forward to all the new people I’ll meet next semester!

Though I’ll miss writing each week, it is nice to get a break! I’m mostly looking forward to all the new people I’ll meet on staff next semester and I’ll finally not be part of the new group! I remember my first day thinking how I’d be able to learn everything about writing and laying out pages but now I love it and it’s like second nature!

The thing I think I’ll miss most is all the delicious free food we got to eat on Mondays and Tuesdays after working on pages! Mmmm…. I can smell the Jimmy Johns now! Now that I think about it, maybe I want break to go by kind of quickly! Ha! JUST KIDDING!

Here is a picture of me and Maria, one of the photographers, in the Collegian office after a longgg Tuesday night!

Homerun

This weekend I decided to have my own little winter break before finals week starts so I went home to visit for a few days. It was fun just to relax and get a couple last minute assignments done. This morning I woke up early and drove back to Butler. Needless to say it was a fun ride considering there were no cars on the highway and I was singing songs on my iPod at the top of my lungs!

This week I only have two finals so I am looking forward to finally being done with the semester. I just have one more assignment to do today and then I’ll be able to relax! I am more excited for next semester and all the new classes I’ll be taking! The class that sounds the most interesting and different is my web design class. I’m really looking forward to it and hoping I can learn a lot of new things about web journalism!

I can also say I am officially done with my Converged Journalism Project! It took a whole semester to complete and I am really proud of it! I had so much fun filming interviews and shots, writing stories, and editing my video to put the whole thing together. My topic was education reform and Indianapolis Public Schools. Trust me, it’s more interesting than it initially sounds! It’s full of action and conflict!

Here’s the final video I made for the project

Almost There!

There are only three more days of classes left this semester and the feeling is bittersweet. I’m happy because this means I won’t have to do homework for a while but it also hit me that it means that I’m that much closer to graduating! I’m just hoping the rest of college doesn’t go by as fast!

I am looking forward to being able to go home. I might be going home this weekend to get a haircut and do laundry but I might just wait it out since I have a couple finals the following week.

Today I had one of my finals in Spanish. After we took our normal weekly quiz, we had to have a dialog with our professor in spanish for eight minutes. We did it in pairs which took the pressure off of each of us and it was actually enjoyable. We got to talk about ourselves and respond to random questions the professor had for us. So now I can officially say I am done with Spanish….. At least for this semester anyway.

Another big project I’m working on is a Public Service Announcement my group had to make for Media Literacy class. We have to inform viewers on a media literacy issue and my group chose product placement. Filming the video was really fun and I’ll be sure to post it on my blog once we’re done editing!

Until then, here’s a video of my personal favorite PSA. It’s probably because it makes me hungry!

Noah’s Ark

It has been raining for the past couple of days and JUST HASN’T STOPPED! Today I made the mistake of leaving my dorm without my umbrella and have been getting wet ever since. I’m currently drying my wet feet in my room in front of my lamp! Hopefully I’ll get warm and toasty soon!!!

It’s weird to think classes are ending in less than two weeks. It seems like the semester just started! I just got off of Thanksgiving break and now I’m looking forward to winter break! Well, I’m looking forward to everything except the cold and snow. I saw on the news that it is supposed to snow today so I’m hoping winter doesn’t come too early!!

Right before break started, my friend Jill, who goes to IU, came and visited Indianapolis to go to a local antiques shop! I stopped by and we had fun picking out different items! I almost got these authentic cowboy boots for $20 but decided against it as I don’t have anything to wear them with. I ended up not getting anything but I plan to go back another day when I’ll have more time to look around and find something I want/need!

This is me and Jill's roommate Kelly! Disregard the funny faces!

Cooking with André

I’m finally back on campus and I am awkwardly excited for classes to start tomorrow! There’s only two more weeks of classes so I’m going to enjoy this year while it lasts! The thing I’m not looking forward to is the fact that I still have some assignments to finish for this week! This is probably more due to the fact that break went by so fast rather than me procrastinating! I’ll probably wake up early tomorrow to get most of them done. I have a really long break between classes tomorrow so I’ll use that time to get caught up.

One of the assignments I had to do was to make a tortilla for spanish class for extra credit! It was really fun because I’ve never cooked anything before so it was a new experience trying to follow a recipe! Needless to say, my end product looks nothing like the picture. In fact, it looks/smells really unappetizing! Hopefully my classmates won’t mind when I bring it to class on Tuesday!

Here’s a picture of the tortilla I made! Don’t judge, it’s my first time cooking by myself!! :)

Dancing with the Librarians

On Dancing with the Stars last night, Rob Kardashian, my favorite, made second place. Despite being disappointed, I was also distracted by the fact that there was a Republican CNN debate at the same time. I was so conflicted as to what to watch so I decided to keep flipping channels like a crazy person! I was a little disappointed in this debate as there weren’t as many heated exchanges and verbal attacks as usual! It was just a disappointing television night for me overall!

Today I was a little more productive! I went to the library with my friend Jill and did some homework! Needless to say, I am so far done with half of my assignments! I hadn’t been to my local county library in years and when we went today I was pleasantly surprised to see that it has been completely remodeled and everything is arranged differently than when I was in elementary school! Me and Jill spent about 20 minutes wandering aimlessly trying to find a place to sit and plug in our laptops! Luckily once we found our footing, we were able to get stuff done!

I was also a little sneaky while at the library! Despite its strict no food and drink policy, I was starving and managed to eat a blueberry bagel from Dunkin Donuts while doing work! (Shhh! Be sure not to tell!!!)

Here’s another Black Friday commercial featuring a pretty crazy wacky lady as well! I never noticed the Black Friday commercials before this year but I love them all! Plus, this one takes its tune from the masterpiece that is “Friday.”
