So I get bored easily so one of the things I take my frustrations out on is the Starbucks on campus. Normally at Starbucks when you get a drink they ask you for a name on the cup so they can give you the correct drink on the other side of the store. So since I’ve caught on that you don’t have to provide your real name, I’ve been taking this opportunity to adopt a plethora of new identities!
My favorite go-to identities are Barack Obama and Beyoncé but there are others I use as well. It’s always so funny to hear “Venti water for Barack Obama” and it’s hilarious to see people’s reactions when they hear the name and see me walking up to get my cup. I keep running out of ideas but I can’t wait to use more identities in the upcoming weeks!
My latest identity!
Today is the inauguration of President Obama and since I did all my homework already, I decided to spend today watching it. It was the first inauguration I’ve ever watched since at Obama’s last inauguration I was in school and was taking a history test. I remember specifically because my school played his speech on the intercom and I remember getting annoyed because I couldn’t concentrate on my exam! Needless to say I got an A anyway!
The highlight for me, obviously, was when Beyoncé sang the National Anthem. It was so perfect! If she sang this good in the blistering cold of Washington D.C., I can only imagine how well she’ll perform during the Super Bowl in New Orleans this year! I’m so glad I finally got to experience something so historic on television, especially after voting in my first election last year.

Being the Political Science major that I am, I have been keeping up with this year’s election for seemingly ages! It was especially important to me since it was the first Presidential election I could vote in. I previously voted in the 2010 election but this one meant more to me. But the election finally came to an end last night when President Barack Obama was reelected to a second term.
I was anticipating having to stay up until around 2 or 3 AM to hear the winner but all of the television networks projected an Obama win around 11:20 PM so my night ended earlier than expected. Some of my residents ordered pizza to celebrate the night so of course I joined them! I didn’t get to bed until 2 AM but it was worth it celebrating the historic night.
Last night was the start of the Democratic National Convention and it was a good night. First Lady Michelle Obama was the big speaker of the night and her speech was excellent! She gave a lot of insight into her life with President Obama and it truly felt like a heartfelt speech. My favorite line was the one regarding how the President spends some nights “strategizing over middle school friendships.”
Tonight, Bill Clinton is supposed to be the speaker, which makes me extremely excited. He always makes good speeches so hopefully he does not disappoint. On Thursday the President is supposed to speak and I can’t wait to hear his speech as well. Obviously my inner political science nerd is in full colors this week.
Here’s a video with highlights from the First Lady‘s speech:

For my Political Humor course we were all assigned to watch the Republican National Convention and write a paper on it, so that is exactly how I spent my night. I wasn’t in my room so I had to watch a live stream of it on Yahoo. It was kind of awkward watching it since I’m a member of Butler’s College Democrats.
The big speakers of the night were New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and Ann Romney. I surprisingly enjoyed both. Christie was very bombastic and brazen and that’s what I liked about it. Romney, on the other hand, was very mellow and soft spoken, which was also nice to contrast Christie. So it ended up not being a bad night. There are two more nights to go so hopefully they are as enjoyable as the first!

I’ve been staying up extremely late each night this week browsing the internet and last night I discovered Face In Hole, where you can place your face inside any picture you want! Since I don’t have Photoshop, this is like the most entertaining thing ever.
This was the day when I stood in as a body double for President Obama.... No big deal!
I’ve literally taken about 15 of these photos. My favorite is that of the Mona Lisa. I definitely think I’ve captured her smile perfectly! Who knows, maybe this new obsession with putting my face in a hole will lead me to being discovered as the next Leonardo da Vinci (Probably not)!
Honestly, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference!
