Lions and Tigers and Bears (Oh My!)

I’ve been going to the National Zoo on about a weekly basis now since it’s so close to my apartment. During my last visit, all the animals were out and it was wonderful! I got to go inside the reptile exhibit, the small mammal exhibit, and see the large monkeys!

The lion and tiger were also out in full force too! The lion was jumping around and roaring and stuff stuff so it was hard to get a good pic of him but I managed to snap one. The tiger was just strutting his stuff and not really paying anyone any attention.

I actually did, in fact, see a bear but he was just being lazy and laying around so I couldn’t get a good picture of him. Next time I visit, I’m going to need him to be a bit more active.

Cute Puppies Galore!

One of the early things I noticed when I first came to D.C. was that there is an abundance of adorable puppies around! I’ve been craving a pet so they’ve basically been taunting me everywhere I go. I’ve been spending a lot of time in Starbucks lately being pretentious studying and for some reason everyone has been bringing their puppies there so I’ve been on puppy watch almost every day.

Sometimes people bring ugly dogs but lately all of them have been cute. I haven’t seen anyone with my favorite dog breed, dalmatians, yet but I have seen my second favorite, siberian huskies!

One of these days I’m going to have to sneak some kind of pet into my apartment. It probably won’t be a puppy but will probably end up being a boring beta fish since they’re cheap lovable.

Mr Kardashian The Frog

One of the classes I’m taking this semester is called the Politics of Harry Potter and the Hunger Games. My teacher jokingly said we could get extra credit if we bring in a cat, toad, or an owl just like in the book series so I got a toad and I’m bringing him to class! I’ve named him Mr. Kardashian. He’s a fire-bellied toad and he was really cheap from the pet store!

He has been my project all day. I have to feed him mealworms and give him adequate light and water. He keeps trying to climb out of his tank so hopefully he’s just being energetic and it’s not a sign that he hates me!

Unfortunately toads aren’t allowed in residence halls so I’m letting one of my friends who lives in an off campus house keep him for me but I’m still claiming him as my child. Can’t wait to get my extra points!

Real Finding Nemo

Last week I was able to go to the Shedd Aquarium with my friend Jessica and I ended up having a lot of fun! It was my first time ever going so it was sort of like a reliving my childhood moment. We thought it would be good to get there early to beat all the field trips but after getting there, we realized that didn’t make much sense and were soon bombarded by small children of all sorts.

It was so fun seeing all the animals! I saw all kinds of fish, snakes, sea horses, and much more. I just had no idea all of these species existed. It was like watching Finding Nemo and Animal Planet in real life. We didn’t pay for any of the big exhibits but if we go back again, I definitely want to see the Jellyfish display that I’ve been seeing all the commercials for.

Happy Easter!

For Easter this weekend I decided to go home and spend the holiday with my family. When I first got back we all went out to Olive Garden to eat to celebrate my birthday from last week. After we got done eating and returned home, I gave myself a birthday present by not doing or worrying about any of my homework. Needless to say, I spent all of Saturday doing it…

On Sunday we went to Church and to my surprise, there was a real live donkey outside for kids to play with!  It was extremely precious but I didn’t touch it since I didn’t know if it bites or was dirty! So I ended up admiring from afar! Maybe next year I’ll hop on his back and steal him!!

The donkey that was just, ya know, hanging out right in front of Church.
