Trash Galore

So today the residence halls officially closed which means if you’re an RA you have to inspect rooms and check out residents. But, of course I waited until the last minute to pack and empty my trash so that’s how I spent my last night on campus. I stayed up until 1 packing and dancing around my room. When I decided to take out my trash, there was seriously a mountain of trash in the trash room. I guess everyone else had the same idea as me to pack late too! I eventually fell asleep and had to wake up at 6 to check out one of my residents.

I also have breaking news in my life… I got rid of my Justin Bieber cardboard cutout. He was a great roommate but we had our differences. I will hopefully be replacing him next semester. I can’t decide if I should get a new cardboard cutout or get a plant. I’ll probably get a plant so I can perform experiments on it #strange.

Break Fun: The Library

Even though I spent a couple days relaxing and doing nothing this break, most of my time was spent doing homework, completing assignments, and working on projects. Today I decided to go to this strange place called the public library and work on my research literature review. I periodically did my homework one course a day during the break so it was a relief to finally get the ball rolling on this last assignment before going back to Butler tomorrow.

With Lana Del Rey on shuffle, I was ready to go! I got through planning my paper and finding all the sources and sites I need to get going. I got a couple pages done but I still have a lot more to go. Hopefully I can get it done by the end of the week.

Election 2012

Being the Political Science major that I am, I have been keeping up with this year’s election for seemingly ages! It was especially important to me since it was the first Presidential election I could vote in. I previously voted in the 2010 election but this one meant more to me. But the election finally came to an end last night when President Barack Obama was reelected to a second term.

I was anticipating having to stay up until around 2 or 3 AM to hear the winner but all of the television networks projected an Obama win around 11:20 PM so my night ended earlier than expected. Some of my residents ordered pizza to celebrate the night so of course I joined them! I didn’t get to bed until 2 AM but it was worth it celebrating the historic night.

Missing Butler

I’ve only been home for a day for fall break but I already miss Butler! Don’t get me wrong, I love being home, but it is just that my communication to the outside world has drastically decreased. Since I don’t get any cellphone service at home, my communication is severely limited to Wi-Fi or getting a couple bars when I run errands. It’s like I’m living in the 12th century.

Last night, I was able to watch television for the first time in seemingly ages. The only thing I watched was the Vice Presidential debate. I thought both candidate did very well and I definitely learned that Joe Biden is not scared to speak his mind! He was clearly the most colorful of the two candidates. Hopefully this debate was an indicator of how the next presidential debate will be.

Team iPhone 5

As everyone knows, the iPhone 5 came out last week. And needless to say, I pre ordered it the day it was released. It shipped all the way from China and took a couple days to get here but it shipped to my house yesterday. Of course no one was home to get it from UPS but don’t worry, it’s being shipped to Butler so I should have it by today!

Today all of my classes were canceled so I can wait all day for it! I can’t wait to get it. I’ve already given it a pretentious name just for the heck of it. His name is Jacques (Yes, he’s French) and I can tell he’s going to be cool. Can’t wait until mail delivers today!

S’Mores

Last week my faculty in residence at Resco invited everyone in our wing over for s’mores! I’ve only had one s’more previously so I was definitely excited to go truly experience s’mores for myself. They had a campfire set up for everyone to make their own s’mores. After struggling for some time, I eventually got the hang of it.

My international students in my hallway never had s’mores before so I ended up having to teach them how to make them. Evidently I burn them too much instead of making them a golden brown, but I’m getting better! I made myself two of them and they were absolutely delicious and messy! I can’t wait to have more!

My Lost Child

Yesterday, I was minding my business in my room studying and doing homework, when I noticed some of my residents giggling in the study lounge next to my room. I didn’t think much of it until some of them walked by my room manically laughing. Then I knew something was up and realized that my Justin Bieber cardboard cutout was missing!

After interrogating various residents and tackling a couple of people, I eventually narrowed it down to one resident who was the perpetrator. Then suddenly, one of my residents told me to look outside my window. Low and behold, Justin was outside my window! As I tried to open my window to get him back inside the safety of my room, he suddenly disappeared!

After some tough negotiating, the perpetrator, Alex, eventually brought Justin back. Justin was obviously traumatized by the whole experience but he was eventually brought back in one piece! Tonight I’m making my friend Karleen babysit him in her room tonight just to protect his safety! We cannot have a repeat of last night! I now am currently plotting my retaliation!

My Friend Justin

Everyone keeps teasing me saying how boring my room is since I only have like two posters and no rugs or anything. It was even described as a “cave” by one of my friends. So in an attempt to liven up my room a bit, I decided to browse the Party City website to find something exciting for my room.

The section that struck me was the cardboard cutout section. There were so many to choose from but I ultimately decided to get the Justin Bieber cutout. It was the best purchase decision of my life. The only downfall is that whenever my room is dark, I’m terrified that there is a person, but it’s just the Biebs! It’s like I have a roommate now!

Democratic National Convention

Last night was the start of the Democratic National Convention and it was a good night. First Lady Michelle Obama was the big speaker of the night and her speech was excellent! She gave a lot of insight into her life with President Obama and it truly felt like a heartfelt speech. My favorite line was the one regarding how the President spends some nights “strategizing over middle school friendships.”

Tonight, Bill Clinton is supposed to be the speaker, which makes me extremely excited. He always makes good speeches so hopefully he does not disappoint. On Thursday the President is supposed to speak and I can’t wait to hear his speech as well. Obviously my inner political science nerd is in full colors this week.

Happy Labor Day

Happy Labor Day!

Today was nice and calm considering half of campus went home for the holiday and extended weekend. I stayed since I had a lot of homework and assignments to get done so hopefully I can go home pretty soon. My days have been very productive so that has been good.

Last night I had my first insomnia cookie and needless to say it was the best thing I’ve ever eaten in my entire life. I had a regular chocolate chip cookie and I can’t wait to have another!

To celebrate the Labor Day holiday, instead of taking a break from work, I ended up finishing all of my assignments for the upcoming week that i’ve been assigned so far.
