Music Monday: Chris Brown

Usually on Monday mornings the song “Don’t Wake Me Up” describes my life, but considering the fact that I got 8 hours of sleep last night and I drank Red Bull this morning, I am wide awake and woke up with glee. I somehow end up getting the most sleep the nights before the days with the least number of classes. Today I only have one class and it starts at 2 PM, so I didn’t even get to take advantage of being able to sleep in!

There is a not-so-secret secret that I am obsessed with Chris Brown, which is why i chose him for this Music Monday. The video involves him randomly being transported to different regions and climates around the world as he follows a girl. I’m assuming he’s dreaming and does not want to be woken up based on the title of the song.

IMA Extra Credit

My Spanish teacher offered the class extra credit to go to the Indianapolis Museum of Art to write about some of the different pieces from South America. So my friend Courtney and I decided to go one day after class to go look at the different artifacts.

It was definitely interesting to go see. The IMA is so close to campus and I’m sad I don’t have the chance to go more often to actually see the pieces without a time restraint. The South American indigenous pieces were also interesting because they were things we are learning about in class.

Caffeine Problems

I’m not usually a pop drinker but yesterday I got the weird idea to drink a Dr. Pepper. I was texting while trying to open it in my room when all of a sudden, I accidentally dropped it and pop exploded everywhere. Not only did it get all over my clothes, it got on my walls, floor, bed, and desk. It was such a mess! After I showered and changed my bedspread, I then had to clean all the pop from the floor and walls! It was traumatizing to say the least.

It doesn't look that bad but trust me, it got everywhere

Today my friend Courtney told me she had lots of Red Bull to give away and me, not one to pass on something free, I gladly obliged to take some off of her hands! Now my fridge is full of Red Bull and I’ll have enough to last the rest of my life!

Music Monday: Bieber Edition

As I’ve previously discussed, Justin Bieber is my roommate. Well, actually, it’s a cardboard cutout but he’s still technically my roommate. But the real Biebs released a music video for his song “Beauty and a Beat” two weeks ago and I just got around to watching it.

The video is set in the style of a home video, with Justin filming himself at a waterpark with dancers and such. If all waterparks were that fun and had celebrities, I’d be there every day! The video also features Nicki Minaj, who raps a verse toward the end. Overall, I thought it was a fun concept for a video and I definitely haven’t seen anything like it.

Butler Homecoming 2012

This past week was Homecoming and it was so much fun! Every day there has been some kind of event or activity on campus. I had a lot of assignments to complete this weekend so I’ve definitely been trying to juggle all of the activities/events and my homework! I’ve done everything but two assignments so I think I’m in pretty good standing right now.

Yesterday was the day with the most events. Not only was there a chariot race and a parade, but there was also a tailgate and football game. My friend Karleen and I went to the tailgate and got to see not only my residents in my unit but also many of our alumni friends that recently graduated. After the numerous meet and greets with everyone, we were able to stop by the football game for a bit. Overall, it was a fun day and I am sad the weekend is ending so soon! Now back to work!

Chicago Break

Over the fall break weekend I drove to Chicago to visit my friend Hayley, who goes to Loyola. The weather was extremely rainy and cold so I had to bundle up and drive carefully to get there!

On my way there!

Hayley had a dance performance at Loyola’s new performing arts center so I was happy to attend and show my support! It was part of one of her dance classes and they did a modern dance routine and I was definitely impressed!

After her performance, we went downtown to go shopping! I needed to go to Apple to get a new phone charger and to H&M to get a new sweater for the cold weather! But first we stopped by Macy’s and there I saw Nicki Minaj‘s new perfume/fragrance stand so of course I had to take a picture! I didn’t buy any since it’s for girls but I at least smelled it.

Overall, I had a fun time and can’t wait to go back to the Windy City (literally since the weather was so awful)!

Music Monday

I’ve decided to hop on the Music Monday trend and do a review of the new Lana Del Rey music video. To give a background, Lana’s music is kind of bleak, dull, and dreary, and I love it! Her most famous song is “Video Games,” which she performed on Saturday Night Live a little bit ago. She’s currently the spokesperson for H&M and of course I had to take a picture with her picture in the store in Chicago!

Lana and I in Chicago!

The music video for her song “Ride” takes place in a desert in Nevada. Lana plays a woman who has to sleep with different men for protection/housing. The video definitely has an interesting concept. My favorite part of it is all of the scenery and the quality of the film. It’s 10 minutes long, which makes it a little lengthy, but I was entertained the whole time. I recommend watching it if you have some spare time.

Zombie Friends

I am finally back at Butler and I am pretty excited. It was so fun being able to relax at home but now I am ready to get back into the swing of things. I had to write so many papers this weekend I am about to run over to the computer lab before the printer runs out of ink or paper.

The biggest thing I am excited for is that my favorite show, The Walking Dead, has its season premiere tonight! It is about a zombie apocalypse and follows a group of people trying to survive it. There are going to be new characters this season and a new setting so I am pretty excited. I am going to try to force my friend Karleen to watch it with me since I get creeped out watching it by myself!

My partner in crime, Karleen, and I with our matching shirts. Hopefully she'll watch the show with me!

Missing Butler

I’ve only been home for a day for fall break but I already miss Butler! Don’t get me wrong, I love being home, but it is just that my communication to the outside world has drastically decreased. Since I don’t get any cellphone service at home, my communication is severely limited to Wi-Fi or getting a couple bars when I run errands. It’s like I’m living in the 12th century.

Last night, I was able to watch television for the first time in seemingly ages. The only thing I watched was the Vice Presidential debate. I thought both candidate did very well and I definitely learned that Joe Biden is not scared to speak his mind! He was clearly the most colorful of the two candidates. Hopefully this debate was an indicator of how the next presidential debate will be.

Here’s the debate from last night

On Duty

Today marks the first day of fall break and instead of leaving last night, I left in this morning because I was on duty at Resco, which means I have to stay in the building in case a student gets locked out of their room. It was as quiet as a mouse and only saw two of my residents! Seemingly everyone left during the day for break!

Now that I am home, one of the first things I did was to get a haircut! Now that that’s over, I am currently snuggled up in bed watching Goldfinger since everyone I know stresses how good of a movie it is. Hopefully this break remains as relaxing as it has started off!
