Amélie is a foreign film I recently watched and it is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while! It stars Audrey Tautou as Amélie who is an extremely quirky waitress that by chance finds a boy of toys of a boy that previously lived in her apartment and finds a clever way of giving it back to him. This leads her to do good deeds for all her neighbors. I won’t give away too much of the plot if someone decides to rent it!

What made this movie different from other foreign films I’ve seen is that it was in French! Usually when I watch a foreign film, they’re in Spanish so I can pick up on certain things without relying too heavily on the subtitles. But in this case, it wasn’t too much work looking at the subtitles and everything flowed well! I loved the subtle twists and the humor. It was definitely a different type of humor than I’m used to but I enjoyed it a lot! I highly recommend for anyone to rent it one weekend.

Instead of posting the trailer, I decided to post my favorite scene of Amélie helping a blind man in the city. I read online the director was inspired to make this scene based on something he saw in real life!

Happy Memorial Day!

Today was such a nice/hot beautiful day! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more beautiful Memorial Day! I had so much fun eating and getting together with my family today. I was even able to put down my Kindle for two seconds to enjoy myself. I just became addicted to the game Temple Run and have been driving my family crazy walking around the house playing it so I’m sure they enjoyed me putting it down for a bit!

This Memorial Day reminds me of last year when I went to the County Line Orchard with my friend Jill on Memorial Day. We got to ride through the apple orchard, get blueberry donuts, listen to music, and so much more! I’m kind of sad we didn’t go this year. Oh well, there’s always next year.

Addicted To Kindle

Since I got my Kindle, I haven’t been able to put it down! I’ve been downloading books, Apps, movies, songs, and TV Shows. I got a free month of Amazon Prime with my Kindle so I can stream free movies and TV shows sort of like Netflix. It might be the best invention ever.

I’ve been watching dozens of shows and have recently discovered GCB because of it. It’s my new favorite show but I found out it was just canceled! :( To make up for my sadness in GCB being canceled, I’ve decided to reconnect with my childhood and watch episodes of Arthur!

He was basically my role model in grade school, despite him being an animal and not human. Sure I may be ten years too old to watch it but who said it was illegal to watch kid shows!

Arguably the best show ever created

Teen Wolf

So in the boredom of my summer so far, I’ve become an avid Internet browser. While browsing the Internet this week I happened to stumble upon the MTV show Teen Wolf.

Teen Wolf is a show starring Tyler Posey as, you guessed it, a teen wolf. He has a hard time dealing with him being a wolf and managing school and his relationships. All during season one he had to protect his friends from the Alpha wolf who was trying to kill them.

Eventually at the end of season one he helps kill the Alpha so I’m unsure what the storyline for season 2 will be but the previews have been very enticing. Luckily MTV has every episode online for free so that is how I’ve been spending my days for the past week!

The second season premieres after the MTV Movie Awards on June 3 so I’m literally counting the days until then! I’m just happy I have a new summer show to keep up on!

Disaster Movie

On Friday I decided I wanted to watch a low budget/light-hearted comedy. That only left me with one option: Disaster Movie. The movie originally came out in 2008 but hey, better late than never, right!? Let me just say, this may have been the worst movie ever imaginable. The acting was horrible, nothing was funny, and nothing in it was believable.

The movie starred Matt Lanter, from 90210, as a guy who is trying to save the world from ending but encounters celebrities in the process. Kim Kardashian was also shockingly in the movie and was a main character until she died halfway through the movie from an asteroid falling on her. I didn’t even know she was in it until after I started watching so that was a pleasant surprise. But after she died, I kind of lost interest.

At the end he eventually saves the world and they all live happily ever after… Except for Kim unfortunately.

Celebrity Follow

Last week I was minding my own business on Twitter when all of a sudden I saw that Teresa Giudice, one of the Real Housewives of New Jersey, was following me! She is the one that is famous for flipping the table in a fight. And of course this makes her my favorite of the housewives. She was also on this season of Celebrity Apprentice.

I’ve only been on Twitter for a couple of weeks and I already have a celebrity following me! Pretty soon I’ll be followed by the god of all New Jersey celebrities: Snooki! In honor of my new follow, I was going to watch the new episode of NJ Housewives but tonight is the new season premiere of Keeping Up With The Kardashians so I’ll have to record it and watch it tomorrow!

She officially follows me!

Kindle Love

So yesterday my Kindle came in the mail and I’m already obsessed. But, just my luck, the day it came in was the day my modem decided to break and I didn’t have Wifi at home! So I ended up having to drive to Panera just to mooch off of their Wifi.

The first thing I downloaded was a game called Cut The Rope. It’s like Angry Birds but for cool people. I haven’t been able to put my Kindle down because of it! Buying the game ended up somehow giving me a $1 credit to buy a song in the Amazon store so I’ve yet to redeem! I also haven’t purchased a book yet either! I just can’t decide what I want to read. If you have any book suggestions feel free to comment!

The case I got for it is supposed to come in today so I have that to look forward to as well! The only other thing I could muster to buy on it was an issue of El País, a Spanish newspaper. Yes, that’s the nerd journalist in me speaking!

Just basking in the glow of my new Kindle! Yes, I have problems....

Real Finding Nemo

Last week I was able to go to the Shedd Aquarium with my friend Jessica and I ended up having a lot of fun! It was my first time ever going so it was sort of like a reliving my childhood moment. We thought it would be good to get there early to beat all the field trips but after getting there, we realized that didn’t make much sense and were soon bombarded by small children of all sorts.

It was so fun seeing all the animals! I saw all kinds of fish, snakes, sea horses, and much more. I just had no idea all of these species existed. It was like watching Finding Nemo and Animal Planet in real life. We didn’t pay for any of the big exhibits but if we go back again, I definitely want to see the Jellyfish display that I’ve been seeing all the commercials for.

One of the huge fish we saw that day!

So I’ve still been on my movie rental binge and yesterday I decided to rent the movie W.E. It was directed by Madonna and I have to say I thought it was amazing! I loved the scenery, the casting, and the plot.

The movie tells the story of a woman in modern times trying to find out more about Wallis and Edward. Edward was the King of England who had to give up the throne so he could marry the love of his life, an American named Wallis. Cue the sappy/romantic music. Abbie Cornish played the modern day woman but she ends up finding love with a security guard in the museum.

I guess what made the film so good was that since it got such terrible reviews that I was expecting the worst so when it was actually a decent movie, I was pleasantly surprised. I highly recommend watching it! You end up even learning a little history in the process!

Beautiful Weather

The weather has been extremely beautiful lately and I recently went to Chicago to enjoy it. My friend Jessica and I walked around the city to see all the people, to pick up a new book, and to get things out of her locker at Colombia University.

We ended up going to a restaurant called Eleven City Diner for lunch and it was delicious! I got turkey sliders and I couldn’t even finish them all! I am really looking forward to going back and trying something else as there were so many things on the menu that looked good.

My favorite part of the day was sitting out by the beach and starting to read my book! I ended up getting a book called Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter. From what I understand so far, it combines elements of the Civil War and vampires. Sounds fun!

Our view by the beach! It was such a beautiful day!
