Today is the last day of classes before finals and I’m super excited. One of my classes for today was canceled so today got a little more exciting! But then I realized I still have to give a presentation in my Research class so the excitement subsided a little. I’m so nervous to present! I’m sure I’ll do fine since I’ve been practicing but it’s still hard to get over those nerves!
Since finals don’t start until Wednesday, Tuesday is wide open. So I’ve decided to start moving some of the stuff I don’t use home. It feels so weird to say that I’m starting to move out of my room already. It’ll be even weirder because next week I’ll be half way done with college! I’m not ready to leave just yet!! I’m going to have to make the most of the next two years as it seems like these two have just flown by!
Last week when I went to Starbucks one night, there was a mini concert going on! I've yet to find out who was playing.
I’ve recently become a movie enthusiast and have been renting movies like crazy this weekend. On Thursday I rented the movie Valentine’s Day. It was a random suggestion from iTunes and I actually loved it! My favorite character in it was Taylor Swift. She played a hormone raging teenage girl who is obsessed with a huge white bear her boyfriend gave her.
On Friday I rented another movie called Rear Window. It was a movie from the 50s and is about a man sitting who creeps on his neighbors. He, in the process, discovers a murder coverup and it makes for a really entertaining movie. I was really tired while watching it but I could not fall asleep as I was on the edge of my seat the whole time!
I’m thinking of renting a new movie tonight but I haven’t decided what. If there’s any suggestions, feel free to comment!
Watching Rear Window with a nice cup of Starbucks
I am literally counting down the days until summer vacation and I can’t be more excited. Here’s a list of things I’m excited to do this summer/desperately want to do:
1. Read a book (preferably the Hunger Games)
2. Go to the Nicki Minaj concert
3. Meet Kim Kardashian
4. Go to the Shedd Aquarium
5. Get a job
6.Go to the Museum of Science and Industry
7. Soak up the sun on the beach
This morning I wrote my last article for the Collegian. It was sort of a bittersweet moment since I’m happy I don’t have to write anything else but I’m also sad it’s over. I had to cover the men’s golf team this week and their tournament at Ball State.
Last Wednesday we had our last meeting of the year and for our last ice breaker we had to say our favorite Collegian memory. I had so many it was hard to narrow down but I think my favorite was my birthday when everyone signed a card and made me a gift! I’m so sad I won’t be able to do newspaper next year since I’ll be so busy but I’ll definitely come back if my second semester clears up!
Doing the Delta Gamma hand sign at the last meeting of the year!
Last week I found out that the Kardashians would be in Chicago on Friday at Sears. Not only did excitement rush through my body, I was determined to go no matter what. Nothing was going to keep me from meeting Kim. …Or so I thought.
Friday morning I woke up early to drive all the way to the mall they were going to be at just so I could see Kim. When I got there at 9 am to wait to see them, there were already about 300 people there even though the event didn’t start until 5 pm!! Some had even camped out since 3 pm the night before!
So since my chances of meeting her were shot since she was only meeting 200 people, I decided to just wait around the mall just to get a glimpse of her. So I waited hours upon hours prancing around until 5 came. To make a long story short, I did get to see her in the flesh but I was so far back and there were so many TALL people in front of me that I could barely manage a good picture. But I heard rumors that they’re coming back to Chicago in the summer so that’ll be my chance to camp out over night and finally meet Kim!! She looked so good in person!!!
This is the best picture I could salvage of Khloe and Kim
The semester is almost at a close and I just had to sit back and think about how fast it went by! There is only about two more weeks before summer vacation which is weird since it seems like I just moved in my dorm seemingly days ago! And now, before you know it, I have to move on back out! It feels so weird to say that I am halfway done with college.
But before I get too caught up in the future, I still have some papers and projects due before the end of the semester which means that I am going to have a very busy weekend. I have a research project due in my Research class, a final creative project due in my Spanish class, a paper due in my Constitutional Law class, another paper due in my GHS class, and a final project due in my Web Design class! Three words: busy, busy, busy!
When I had to hideaway in Schwitzer during the power outage, my friend Lauren from the paper was there to save the day!!
I was very productive this weekend and finished all my homework early. This meant that I had to find a way to spend my Sunday! So since I had a lack of power on Saturday, one of the first things I did was to watch Saturday Night Live online. It was a surprisingly funny episode since I didn’t know who the host was.
Then I decided to workout for like the second time this year. And by working out I mean prancing around my room while dancing to my iPod. Eventually I got tired of this too and ended up taking a nap until dinner. After dinner I
danced worked out again and went to bed early. Needless to say since I went to bed early, I’ve been up since 5 am and will probably be tired by 3 pm! But hey, the early bird catches the worm, right!?
This was my favorite skit from SNL this week.
Yesterday lightning struck the Butler power center and knocked out the power on campus. Fortunately I was off campus shopping for most of it but when I got back, I had to sit in the dark. Most of the buildings on campus didn’t have power but eventually they all came on except for my building. Just my luck!
As it was slowly getting darker outside, I had to find numerous ways to entertain myself. Many people in my unit resorted to playing board games in the hallways. First I tried watching movies on my laptop but eventually my battery ran low. Then I searched around on my phone and played games and discovered new apps! The one that was most helpful in the situation was the flashlight app that I had to use to manuver the hallways.
Once it was completely dark outside, I decided to brave the dark and go visit my friend Maisie in Schwitzer and use her resources to charge my phone. After waiting for hours, I decided I was too tired and was going to go to my room whether it was dark or not and go to bed. To my surprise all the lights were on and power was restored! It was the most glorious moment of my life. I was done living like the Amish!
It actually ended up being unexpectedly fun, but I’d rather not go through it again.
This is literally the view in my room last night. It was seriously that dark...
Today was my last day at Kaleidoscope Youth Center! Kaleidoscope is where I volunteer for my Research and Analysis course. I had to do 20 hours this semester and it flew by fast! It was so sad! I am definitely going to miss the kids and spending my Thursday nights with them! Since it was nice out today we spent most of our time playing freeze tag and playing on the monkey bars.
I was definitely worn out by the end of the three hours. It takes a lot of muscle carrying about a million 8 year olds across the monkey bars! It also takes a lot of energy to keep up with them when you’re Mr. Freeze in freeze tag! Depending on how much time I have next semester, I may continue to volunteer with Kaleidoscope even after my class is over!
Me and some of the kids on my last day!
