Service Learning

For my university service learning requirement, I have signed up to work at the Kaleidoscope Youth Center. The center basically provides after school tutoring help for students in the Indianapolis community. I start next week and I am really excited to start helping out. I really like working with kids and previously had a job at a summer day camp with kids so hopefully I’ll have the same fun experience.

The service learning is part of my Research and Analysis Political Science class, which I also enjoy. We are supposed to design a research project based on our volunteer work and I am thinking of doing mine on the effectiveness of various tutoring techniques and which techniques work best for students. My topic might change once I start doing my volunteer work but I want it to be something that could help the students in the long run.

I’ll be sure to blog about all my experiences at the service learning site and I’m sure it’ll be a blast meeting and helping all the students.
