My Day!

My math class for today was canceled so I only had to go to Chemistry today! So I got to take a REALLY long nap! Tonight I have to finish reading The Speckled People and study for a Spanish test.

I just attended an SGA (Student Government Association) meeting and it is a really good organization for freshmen to join. Each student organization at Butler has a representative in SGA and I represent ADrenaline, Butler’s advertising and marketing club. They won regionals and did well in nationals last year. SGA members vote on different agenda and are responsible for deciding on how money is allotted to various clubs on campus.

I am excited for the upcoming events at Butler! SGA sponsors many of the events on campus. Last year the featured artists at Butler were Kellie Pickler and Girl Talk. This year, Ben Folds, John Legend, and John Mellencamp are coming! Adam Lambert already came earlier in the year. For more info on upcoming events and tickets  at Clowes Memorial Hall at Butler visit their webpage.

I added pictures of my dorm today so that future students can get a feel as to what the rooms would look like. Most freshmen will be in either Ross Hall (boys and girls dorm) or Schwitzer Hall (girls dorm). I am in Resco which houses mostly sophomores but occasionally some freshmen slip through (like me!).

Also….

THE YANKEES ARE GOING TO THE PLAYOFFS!!!!!! :)

That’s all for today! Go Bulldogs!

The Busy Week Continues….

Last night the College Democrats organization had dinner at the advisor’s home. It was good to finally have a home cooked meal in college and it was a great experience to have. We discussed various political and social issues and ate Greek and Middle Eastern food. Many students from small schools boast that they have had dinner at a teacher’s house and I can now finally say the same!

I have a lot of assignments this week. They include: a Spanish test, writing a paper for Irish Literature (FYS), reading for Chemistry, and write and conduct an interview with a Butler faculty member for my writing class. I’m going to try to get as much of it done tonight but I am really excited for the new episode of Glee tonight so I will have a limited time to do it. It is the new Britney Spears episode and it is supposed to be good. Some of my friends are supposed to come to my dorm so we can all watch it together!

That’s all for today!

Busy as a Bee!

This week for me is going to be very busy!

Today I got my Chemistry test back and got an A which wasn’t a bad way to start off the day. I then had a math test and got another pleasant surprise that we do not have math class for the rest of the week!

But, now I have a lot to do in the rest of my classes. I have to prepare an interview for my Writing for Print Media Class, take a Spanish Quiz, read 100 pages for my First Year Seminar (FYS) course and write two papers for FYS.

Tonight I am attending a College Democrats meeting and I may go on a walk at night to ease some of the stress. One thing about Butler, there is ALWAYS something to do!

My Weekend!

Instead of joining in with my fellow freshmen on various weekend activities, I went home to visit my high school for its Homecoming weekend! I got to see old friends again and even unexpectedly made new ones. I also got to visit my friends at Loyola University in Chicago.

Since my weekend was all fun, now I’m spending my Sunday night like most students: doing homework! I have a math test and a Spanish quiz coming up this week so hopefully I do well! I also have two papers to write for my First Year Seminar class.

I am part of the College Democrats organization at Butler and tomorrow we will be meeting at our faculty advisor’s home and there will be a special guest at the meeting as well.

That’s all for today!

Mountains of Joy

This week has been a pretty busy week. I have so many assignments in my classes. My writing assignment is coming along well. My biggest tasks to handle is to finish studying for my Chemistry exam and to read for my First Year Seminar class.

My First Year Seminar class is Irish Literature and we are currently reading “The Speckled People” by Hugo Hamilton. It’s a book about a German-Irish boy living in Ireland after World War II and how it affects him and his family. It’s not my book of choice but I’m getting through it. My favorite book that we have read in FYS (First Year Seminar) so far is Translations by Brian Friel. It is a play based in Ireland and was actually really enjoyable to read.

It’s raining a lot today and I’m feeling a little under the weather (no pun intended) so today has been ok. Since I’m not feeling well I have to miss my SGA (Student Government Association) meeting today. I represent ADrenaline in SGA which is the school’s advertising and marketing club at Butler.

That’s all for today!

Go Bulldogs!

Butler Life!

Being a Bulldog is so much fun! My classes are fun but some are challenging. But the best thing is all the new people to meet. The great thing about this campus is the fact that it’s nice and everyone treats each other as a family. It reminds me of my high school. Both my high school and Butler stress the same things: family environment, academics, & fun. There are always activities in which one can go to. Butler started the “Good Clean Fun Initiative” which has a Facebook page. This is designed to allow students to participate in positive yet fun activities almost every day.

The major things coming up this week for me are my Chemistry test and my paper due in Writing for Print Media. I’m not too worried about my test because I had a good background in Chemistry in high school so hopefully it helps me now.I have to write an obituary, morbid I know, about a celebrity. I am thinking of doing it on either Amy Winehouse or Jack Johnson (even though I love them both as artists).

For questions about Butler feel free to leave a comment or to visit the school’s webpage.

I’ll also try to make a “Random Butler Photo of the Day” just to show different places and sights on campus.
