Kindle Love

So yesterday my Kindle came in the mail and I’m already obsessed. But, just my luck, the day it came in was the day my modem decided to break and I didn’t have Wifi at home! So I ended up having to drive to Panera just to mooch off of their Wifi.

The first thing I downloaded was a game called Cut The Rope. It’s like Angry Birds but for cool people. I haven’t been able to put my Kindle down because of it! Buying the game ended up somehow giving me a $1 credit to buy a song in the Amazon store so I’ve yet to redeem! I also haven’t purchased a book yet either! I just can’t decide what I want to read. If you have any book suggestions feel free to comment!

The case I got for it is supposed to come in today so I have that to look forward to as well! The only other thing I could muster to buy on it was an issue of El País, a Spanish newspaper. Yes, that’s the nerd journalist in me speaking!

Just basking in the glow of my new Kindle! Yes, I have problems....

Real Finding Nemo

Last week I was able to go to the Shedd Aquarium with my friend Jessica and I ended up having a lot of fun! It was my first time ever going so it was sort of like a reliving my childhood moment. We thought it would be good to get there early to beat all the field trips but after getting there, we realized that didn’t make much sense and were soon bombarded by small children of all sorts.

It was so fun seeing all the animals! I saw all kinds of fish, snakes, sea horses, and much more. I just had no idea all of these species existed. It was like watching Finding Nemo and Animal Planet in real life. We didn’t pay for any of the big exhibits but if we go back again, I definitely want to see the Jellyfish display that I’ve been seeing all the commercials for.

One of the huge fish we saw that day!

W.E.

So I’ve still been on my movie rental binge and yesterday I decided to rent the movie W.E. It was directed by Madonna and I have to say I thought it was amazing! I loved the scenery, the casting, and the plot.

The movie tells the story of a woman in modern times trying to find out more about Wallis and Edward. Edward was the King of England who had to give up the throne so he could marry the love of his life, an American named Wallis. Cue the sappy/romantic music. Abbie Cornish played the modern day woman but she ends up finding love with a security guard in the museum.

I guess what made the film so good was that since it got such terrible reviews that I was expecting the worst so when it was actually a decent movie, I was pleasantly surprised. I highly recommend watching it! You end up even learning a little history in the process!

Beautiful Weather

The weather has been extremely beautiful lately and I recently went to Chicago to enjoy it. My friend Jessica and I walked around the city to see all the people, to pick up a new book, and to get things out of her locker at Colombia University.

We ended up going to a restaurant called Eleven City Diner for lunch and it was delicious! I got turkey sliders and I couldn’t even finish them all! I am really looking forward to going back and trying something else as there were so many things on the menu that looked good.

My favorite part of the day was sitting out by the beach and starting to read my book! I ended up getting a book called Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter. From what I understand so far, it combines elements of the Civil War and vampires. Sounds fun!

Our view by the beach! It was such a beautiful day!

Follow The Leader

Although I’ve decided against studying abroad, I am still determined to learn Spanish. So in my recent boredom, I’ve decided to set up by own study abroad program from my home and watch nothing but Spanish Telenovelas on Univision and listen to hispanic music in my car.

So far, my biggest struggle has been completely understanding them when they talk fast on TV. Even after approaching my seventh year of studying Spanish, I still have a hard time with that, even with subtitles! So hopefully my the end of the summer I’ll be a pro.

But even though I’ve committed to watching Spanish shows, of course I can’t give up watching my favorite shows: the Kardashians, Glee, and Good Morning America!

Here is one of the songs I discovered while exploring new Spanish music. Anything with JLo in it, I’m automatically hooked! Plus, it’s mostly in English, which I also like! I can’t get over how different she looks! O.0

Moving Away

I am regretting everything I have ever purchased in my life. I am currently packing to go home for summer and I just have too many things! I have even made two prior trips home to take things out of my room and hopefully this is the last one I’ll have to make.

Resco, the building I live in, only has one rolling cart to rent so you can move things to your car so I’m hoping I can make a mad dash to rent it before anyone else after my class tomorrow. If not, I guess I’ll have to make countless trips back and forth to my car…. At least it’ll give me some good exercise!

My final load! Don't let its small size fool you, I also have to take out everything in my closet!

Finals Galore

Tomorrow starts the first day of finals and I’m trying desperately to contain my excitement. Cue the sarcasm. I have one each day this week which is really not motivating me to do anything. Instead, procrastination is getting the best of me and I’ve been looking up videos of Sophia Grace and Rose online instead of studying!

Don’t worry, I’ll start studying AFTER my nap! Thankfully I think I know the material pretty well for my tests so I’m trying not to be too worried! One of my friends has 3 finals in one day! So at least I’m lucky enough to have them spread out!

Well, I’m off to sleep/study!

Here’s a video of Sophia Grace & Rosie that I stumbled upon while studying! Here they’re meeting Nicki Minaj:

Final Day To Almost Freedom

Today is the last day of classes before finals and I’m super excited. One of my classes for today was canceled so today got a little more exciting! But then I realized I still have to give a presentation in my Research class so the excitement subsided a little. I’m so nervous to present! I’m sure I’ll do fine since I’ve been practicing but it’s still hard to get over those nerves!

Since finals don’t start until Wednesday, Tuesday is wide open. So I’ve decided to start moving some of the stuff I don’t use home. It feels so weird to say that I’m starting to move out of my room already. It’ll be even weirder because next week I’ll be half way done with college! :o I’m not ready to leave just yet!! I’m going to have to make the most of the next two years as it seems like these two have just flown by!

Last week when I went to Starbucks one night, there was a mini concert going on! I've yet to find out who was playing.

Movie Enthusiast

I’ve recently become a movie enthusiast and have been renting movies like crazy this weekend. On Thursday I rented the movie Valentine’s Day. It was a random suggestion from iTunes and I actually loved it! My favorite character in it was Taylor Swift. She played a hormone raging teenage girl who is obsessed with a huge white bear her boyfriend gave her.

On Friday I rented another movie called Rear Window. It was a movie from the 50s and is about a man sitting who creeps on  his neighbors. He, in the process, discovers a murder coverup and it makes for a really entertaining movie. I was really tired while watching it but I could not fall asleep as I was on the edge of my seat the whole time!

I’m thinking of renting a new movie tonight but I haven’t decided what. If there’s any suggestions, feel free to comment!

Watching Rear Window with a nice cup of Starbucks :)

Looking To Summer

I am literally counting down the days until summer vacation and I can’t be more excited. Here’s a list of things I’m excited to do this summer/desperately want to do:

1. Read a book (preferably the Hunger Games)

2. Go to the Nicki Minaj concert

3. Meet Kim Kardashian

4. Go to the Shedd Aquarium

5. Get a job

6.Go to the Museum of Science and Industry

7. Soak up the sun on the beach
