Campus Safety

Butler University Police Department (BUPD)

While we are in one of the safest neighborhoods in Indianapolis, Butler is an open campus. The Butler University Police Department (BUPD) patrols the campus and surrounding Butler-Tarkington neighborhood 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our staff of 18 officers and supervisors has full police powers and all are graduates of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. Although campus safety is our primary concern, we also provide services such as house checks for off-campus housing during school breaks, helping with automotive emergencies, and escorting students to and from classes after hours. Watch as Chief of Police, Ben Hunter, shares more about campus safety at Butler. Want more information on BUPD? Visit the website.
