The following information is made available to assist you in preparing for your New Student Registration Day and specifically, your academic advising appointment. In addition to the information here, visit the Jordan College of the Arts website. Be sure to also read the recommendations on the Prepare for Advising website.

Congratulations on your achievement of being admitted to the Jordan College of the Arts! We are so excited to have you as a part of JCA next fall. Following are a few tips for New Student Registration. We look forward to seeing you on campus once again.

Placement Exams

Be sure to take any required placement exams.

Music and Dance majors will also complete a keyboard placement the morning of your designated registration day. You will be given a blue sheet indicating your placement that you will give to your advisor during your academic advising appointment.

Prepare for Advising

Prior to your advising appointment, take a moment to review potential topics for First Year Seminar courses and additional Core Curriculum courses such as Analytical Reasoning and Social World. Please understand that required courses in your major may limit your options. Prepare to be flexible and consider several topics. Your academic advisor will be able to help you with any questions you may have.
