How to Apply
To apply for admission as a freshman at Butler, complete the Application for Freshman Admission and Scholarships. A completed application includes:
- Your personal statement/essay
- A résumé/summary of your accomplishments and activities
- Official SAT and/or ACT scores with a writing score (Butler University codes: SAT: 1073; ACT: 1180)
- Your official high school transcript
- A Secondary School Report completed by your guidance counselor
If you are sending in a paper application, it must be accompanied by a check, money order or credit card slip for $35 payable to Butler University. This is your nonrefundable application fee. (Note: This fee is waived for online applications or if your parents, grandparents or siblings have graduated from or are currently attending Butler.)
Butler also accepts the Common Application. We give equal consideration to online, paper and Common applications.

Fine Arts Applicants
Students majoring in the fine arts must complete a secondary Dance, Art+Design, Music, Theatre or Arts Administration application in addition to the Freshman Application for Admission and Scholarships. An audition and/or interview is required of all majors in the Jordan College of Fine Arts. Both applications must be submitted before an audition can be scheduled.
To apply, please visit www.butler.edu/boa. Once you have submitted your academic application, you will be asked to complete an application for Art+Design, Arts Administration, Dance, Music or Theatre. Apply and audition early for the best opportunity.
