Academic Support

At Butler, faculty members are committed to helping students succeed no matter the obstacles. Here are some of the resources we have available for all students.

Learning Resource Center

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) at Butler coordinates services, programs and resources to promote your academic success. The Study Enhancement Program helps you develop time management skills, improve your memory, and increase other study skills necessary in the college classroom while working with trained staff. If you are in need of tutoring, the Learning Resource Center offers study tables: walk-in group tutoring sessions that meet regularly. They also offer individual peer tutoring which provides one-on-one assistance in a specific subject area with a qualified peer tutor.

Writers' Studio and Speakers' Lab

The Writers' Studio features peer tutors to assist other students from all academic areas. Writing tutors are trained through a semester-long course to assist in revision and offer suggestions to works of writing in progress. Peer tutors offer free and practical advice to help fine-tune grammar, generate and organize ideas, form theses and plan essays and business or lab reports. In the Speakers' Lab, peer tutors assist students from all majors in the development and sharpening of oral presentation skills. Student tutors offer constructive criticism and suggestions to help improve academic presentations, research reports, and other areas of public speaking.
