- use of Indianapolis as a reporting laboratory, including issues of importance to the city.

- theory and ethics of public relations, researching, planning, monitoring and evaluating public relations projects and campaigns and applying campaign methods to solve specific client problems.

Multimedia
- explores the production of CD, DVD, Web sites and interactive media from concept to completion.
Electronic Media

- stresses the role communication plays in organizations and gives a broad overview of professional communication and the business world.

- prepares students for teaching and instructional leadership in elementary schools. By completing the program requirements, early and middle childhood education majors also meet state licensing course requirements for licensure in early childhood (beginning with kindergarten) and middle childhood settings. - enables students to combine the strength of in-depth preparation in an academic content area with the professional teacher education skills necessary for success in the classroom. Extensive clinical experiences are provided prior to student teaching in a variety of school settings. Content areas include:

- prepares students to teach music to all grade levels K-12.
Music Education
(JCFA)
- certification for K-12 in choral, instrumental, and general music (band, orchestra, chorus, general).

- certification for K-12 teaching in choral and general music.
Instrumental/general
- certification for K-12 in instrumental and general music (band, orchestra, general).
Physical Education and Health
(COE)
- prepares students interested in working as health and physical education teachers, fitness instructors, personal trainers, recreational leaders and coaches. Candidates will be eligible for the K-12 Indiana teacher license and will also be eligible to sit for ACSM ( American College of Sports Medicine) exams, as well as fitness, strength and conditioning exams through other organizations.
Exercise Science -
Exercise Science is a concentration within the Physical Education Program. A student can follow the Exercise Science track without including the Physical Education requirements for licensing. This concentration enables a student to become a certified Exercise Science Trainer by passing a national certification at the end of the four year program. Courses work includes several biology courses including Anatomy and Physiology and prepares students to work in a variety exercise settings.

Performing and Fine Arts
Arts Administration
(JCFA)

focuses on a combination of skills and education in a specific arts discipline (dance, music or theatre) and a strong concentration of study in business, public relations and advertising. The program also includes instruction in the specifics of arts management, including fundraising, audience development, organizational structure and personnel management. Four different Arts Administration degrees are available depending on students' area of interest:

(JCFA)
- a national dance program, with central focus on classical ballet, that offers the serious dance student professional-level training with a broad approach to liberal arts education.
The program offers versatility in other techniques such as Modern and Jazz Techniques.
Butler Ballet and Butler Chamber Dance are the performance components of the programs, offering students extensive pre-professional opportunities. Butler Ballet performs full-length classical story ballets and diverse programs with original contemporary works. Butler Chamber Dance is an ensemble offering students performance opportunities in creative works, directed by dance faculty.
Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) in Dance-Performance
This degree offers conservatory quality training while maintaining a focus on liberal arts education.
Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Dance - Pedagogy
The academic focus of this degree includes study in the sciences, College of Education and dance teaching techniques.
Bachelor of Science in Dance (B.S.) - Arts Administration
The academic focus of this degree includes the study from the College of Business.

A program with professional ties to the Indiana Repertory Theatre (IRT), providing regular interaction with professional theatre artists through internships, seminars, and viewing productions.
A program with international focus, enabling students to study and create theatre at Butler and abroad.

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Theatre
Intensive stage experience (12+ productions a year) combined with core studies in: acting, directing, voice, stage movement, playwriting, scenic, lighting, make-up and costume design; stagecraft, theatre history, play analysis and critical theory.
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Arts Administration: Theatre Concentration
The program of study in arts administration is designed to provide students with a cohesive preparation for professional work in the management of arts organizations, particularly in the areas relating to the administration of theatre.
