Thursday, February 23, 2012
Butler University’s 14th annual Sweet Jazz Cabaret, an evening of vocal and instrumental jazz – as well as desserts and dancing – will be held from 7-9:30 p.m. March 30 and 31 at the Columbia Club on Monument Circle.
Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students. For more information, call (317) 940-9641.
This year’s festivities begin at 7 p.m. each day with ballroom dance lessons. The cabaret begins at 8 with performances by the Butler vocal group Jordan Jazz and the Butler Jazz Ensemble. The music for the evening will be wide-ranging, with songs by Irving Berlin, Bob Marley and Elton John, among many others.
“I hope people will come out, put aside the cares of their day and let us guide them through an evening of dance, dessert and music,” said Tim Brimmer, Butler’s director of vocal jazz. “Sweet Jazz Cabaret has become a tradition for us – a night of close harmonies, fresh rhythms and delightful melodies through the sweet sounds of jazz.”
