Friday, April 20, 2012
This Timely Warning is being issued by Benjamin Hunter, Chief of Staff & Executive Director of Public Safety - Office of the President
Over the past 10 weeks the Butler University Police Department has taken 7 reports of thefts from the Health and Recreation Center (HRC). These thefts have been from both unlocked lockers and also from the “cubbie” storage areas. Visitors who use the HRC are reminded that lockers are available and should always be locked. Items of value should not be left in unprotected areas, but rather should be kept either with the person or in a locked locker.
This Timely Warning is intended to make the campus community aware of a specific incident. Timely Warnings may be posted on the University Police Department's web site only when an incident does not constitute use of the Emergency Notification System (DawgAlert). As a reminder, you can sign-up and update your contact information in DawgAlert by visiting the link http://www.butler.edu/public-safety/dawg-alert/
This Timely Warning is meant to fulfill the requirement of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. The Clery Act is a federal law that requires universities to disclose certain information about campus crime and security policies.
If you have questions, concerns or would like additional Crime Watch tips, please contact the University Police Department at (317)940-9396.
